“The best value location in Waikiki”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

The Aston Waikiki Circle is a comfortable basic hotel in a great location.
No airs or graces, no fuss on check-in. The lobby is open to the street - and just across the road from the beach. Rooms are small but comfortable. No tea/coffee in room, but supplied in lobby each morning. However I asked for a jug and tea making facilities and the hotel was happy to supply them for me. Ocean front, ocean view and partial ocean view rooms are the best. Other rooms face away from the sea. The hotel is small with two elevators which operate quickly, no waiting time as in some larger hotels. We love the Circle hotel - levels 5 - 7 perfect for people viewing from the balcony! No pool at this hotel, but hey, there is a natural pool/breakwater right across the road. Perfect. Food a plenty within steps of walking outside. Coffee shop was closed for renovations on our last visit, but previous visits it had always been great for breakfast.

I stayed at this hotel in Nov. 2013 with three freinds . Great value for money location very good staff helpfull, have booked to go back again. Only down side is the rooms are not real big, but that was not a problem for us.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less traffic and A/C noise

The recent reviews are accurate. Yes, the rooms are "small", and it doesn't have a pool, but the location is excellent. The rooms reminded me of a standard cabin on a cruise ship. I had room 1107 which had a view of the building to the north, but on the balcony had an excellent view of the ocean. For some reason the breakfast restaurant on the street level is incredibly busy, with a convoluted system of ordering, paying, and eating. I'm thinking someone from Toyota management designed the system. McDonald's is next door, as well as an excellent breakfast 1/2 block away, to the south. The whole thing reminded me of Japan. My only complaint was their laundry. I dropped off my laundry in the morning, and the laundry service "was late" and it was never done. I suggested they find a more reliable company for their laundry, and they suggested they couldn't. Really? In Honolulu? I guess that's what happens when you don't have many repeat customers who want this service. The location is excellent, you can walk out of your room in your swimsuit, take the hotel-supplied towel with you, right across the street to one of the nicest beaches you'll ever have. Pretty sweet.

Room Tip: I was advised to get a room above floor 10 due to road noise. I did, and it wasn't loud. I pai...

This hotel is in a very good location , we had an ocean view room on the 12th floor which had the most amazing views . The room was kept clean and tidy and was quite reasonably priced . The only thing I really could mention is the windows are not double glazed so there is noise from the street , at first I found it difficult to sleep but soon became accustomed . There were many restaurants to choose from we used to have breakfast at "Dukes" but found down to the left was a cheeseburger place that did breakfast and was a lot cheaper . If I went back I would more than likely stay here again .I think it is probably the cheapest hotel along that stretch of road .There is no swimming pool , but the beach is directly across the road . You can hire sun umbrellas and chairs . In the room there is a fridge and right next door is the ABC store where you can buy beers etc The room we had was small , but there was two double beds in it so basically the other bed taking up space . Wifi is in the room and DVD's are free at any time . On leaving we were charge another fee ( Amenity) which covered these items plus phone calls , newspaper etc and that was 15 dollars a day .Apparently most hotels in Honolulu have this . So all in all I would recommend

I originally reserved a "partial ocean view room" and partial is an exaggeration! If you go on to the balcony and look very hard you can see a sliver of water. What you can see is other Aston properties next door and close enough to count freckles on a tourist's nose. :-) I complained to the manager and he had no ocean front available that night but in the morning i was upgraded to ocean front for an additional $30/ night plus tax and fees. While we're on the subject of fees; this property as most on Waikiki charge "activity fees" approximating $17/day. Why they don't include this in their room rate is beyond comprehension.

The hotel is in a great location across from the beach, walking distance to the zoo and easy walking access to shopping and dining in the area. I walked to Diamond Head in about an hour and then climbed to the peak, moderately strenuous and do it early. :-)

The rooms are NY small and bathrooms are even smaller, they're clean and adequate with large screen TV but not HiDef. You do have a coffee maker and cove with a desk which was comfortable for business folks like me. There is also a small fridge to keep liquid refreshments.

Because i was traveling alone and just needed a place to sleep and work, this hotel was satisfactory. If my wife had joined me, an upgrade to 3-4 star hotel would have been my choice.

Room Tip: Request ocean front 6th floor or higher, I was in 604

This quirky hotel has an excellent, central location. If you stay here spend the extra $$ and get an ocean view on the upper floors. You can't beat the views because the hotel is probably one of the closest to the beach. They have a very limited number of queen rooms so try to grab one of those also. If you don't want an ocean view (we stayed in a partial ocean view before upgrading) there are so many better options in Wikiki.

We stayed at this hotel with friends and found it to be a great hotel despite it's dated exterior. Great location & the rooms have been modernised. The staff are very helpful. Oceanfront rooms are well worth it. We would have preferred either a queen bed or king bed instead of 2 doubles which I feel took up more room than necessary. It doesn't have a pool but when you've got the ocean & ocean pools across the road, who needs it? Overall, I would definitely stay here again.
