“Good if you're on a budget”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2012

Booked apartment #1410 with Captain Cook Resorts for 2 weeks to get over jetlag and before we headed off to the Big Island. We didn’t plan to spend much time here, as we expected to be out most of the day.

Pros
• Fairway Villa is very well managed. Security is top notch (the reception staff are always at their desk and looking at the cameras). Staff is friendly and building is clean. Parking for #1410 is spacious.
• Our Guest Services Rep, Bryon was waiting for us when we drove up to the condo. He took us up to our assigned parking spot, showed the apartment to us, noticed there were some start-up amenities missing (washing up liquid, sponge etc) and promptly replaced them.
• Washer and dryer (good for small loads) in Studio were extremely useful.
• The 29th floor deck is great for watching fireworks and life going on below in Waikiki. BBQs are immaculately maintained.
• The two single beds weren’t too soft.

Cons
• My biggest gripe was the air conditioning unit. Even after the service staff came to fix/clean out the unit, it continued to rattle, shake, and make loud noises whenever the compressor kicked in. We could not figure which was worse and more detrimental to our sleep quality – sleeping with the air con on or with the windows open and being woken up throughout by traffic/sirens/drunks below.
• Even though the unit has a kitchen, don’t bother cooking here – the exhaust fan doesn’t work. We made breakfast one morning and the smell of bacon and eggs just didn’t leave the room.
• Periodically expect other cooking smells to waft in from other people’s units (even with the doors and windows closed).

Overall, if you are looking for a budget apartment with parking in Waikiki, this might suit you. But as a previous reviewer mentioned, don’t expect to get any sleep until they change the air con unit.

When we booked online pictures looked great & 2 bdr. 2 baths sounded wonderful for about $120 a night. Boy were we wrong! This place is old & has had little or no upgrading since it was built , probably in the 60's. It is dirty even though they charge a cleaning fee... We bought supplies & did it ourselves. The kitchen is gross.. Dead cockroaches in the silverware drawer as well as grime. I wiped the shelves off & rag was visibly dirty. The dishes & few pans are on these shelves. The kitchen is poorly stocked barely enough to get by not to mentioned everything feeling dirty even after being washed by us. The one bedroom is hot & bed is very uncomfortable. There are 2 A/C units that are older than dirt but help if u r right in front of them. We called about early checkout or being moved but were told we would lose our $400 deposit & have to pay for the duration of our stay. I could go on & on. Bottom line don't waste your money! It is false advertising.. You are NOT getting what's in the pictures online! Don't stay in room 2101...

We had room #2318 which is a one bedroom unit on the corner right next to Alawai Blvd., apparently the emergency department is right down the street so all though the night we were either woken up by sirens or the wind whistling though the slatted windows . It’s very breezy on the 23rd floor, if you try and open the windows the wind tunnel is so strong everything goes flying. Luckily though this is one of the few places in Hawaii that VI actually has air conditioning units, one in the bedroom and one in the front room. Compared to other VI rooms the Fairway Villa rooms are much smaller. If the murphy bed is down it’s really cramped in the front room in fact we had to put one of the “kitchen” chairs out into the entry way just to be able to get by the table and into the kitchen. The room looked like it had a fresh coat of paint, the mattress in the bedroom needed to be replaced in my opinion. The edges were firm and the insides were soft so you felt like you sank towards the middle and getting out of it could sometimes be a challenge. The bathroom is really small and it and the kitchen area could definitely use a remodel. I will say the views were really nice from the room and from the roof. It’s in the heart of Waikiki so there’s lots of stuff within walking distance, thank goodness as there is virtually no parking to be found in that town. The little grocery store kiddy corner from the condos is pricy but very convenient when you’ve been out and about all day and has a Red Box located inside it. All in all it was an ok place to stay but not one I’m ever planning on going back to.

This is the first time I exchanged into Fairway Villa thru Vacation Internationale. It is a two bedroom unit at 1501. We added a night at a one bedroom at the beginning because of flight problem (Air Canada doesn't fly Tuesdays to Honolulu from Vancouver). My family of four enjoyed the stay. There is a pool at the roof where my children spend a lot of their time when we are not at the beach. There are also sauna and bbq on the roof top.

Waikiki beach is 3 blocks away, about a 10 minutes easy walk. It is a little farther away than other timeshare, e.g. Imperial, that we exchanged into through RCI. There is free parking at Fairway Villa that could easily cost $25 a day elsewhere. We had a late check-in, but didn't have any problem with getting the key from the security guard that other people mentioned.

The unit was very clean and recently updated. Based on other reviews, it looks like the quality and cleanliness really depend on who owns the unit. I am quite pleased with the unit and will definitely stay there again.

The condo apartment was very well decorated with a soft couch and a very comfortable bed. The kitchen was well supplied with all the cooking implements you'd need.
The only drawback was when you parked your car in the attached garage, you had to take the elevator to the lobby, re enter the secondary lobby where you get to ride the elevator to your floor. This may be normal for these downtown highrises, but we weren't used to it.
Otherwise the apartment building was located just 2 blocks from the beach (Waikiki) and very close the the international food court and all of the local shops and tourist stands. Here, is where you can get some good deals by bargaining with these vendors. I'd recommend this condo time share for those wanting to save money by cooking your own food and eating at the international food court. You can get some great cuisine for little money. Hint: Don't buy food for your kitchen in Waikiki. Go to the local Safeway, where food costs are close to mainland normal. If you go to The Food Pantry, you'll pay $3.49 for a can of vegetables!!

Just returned from a 3wk stay In a condo owned by Dr Stan & Marie Satz-Aloha Family Properties ..From start to finish everything went smoothly..The Fairway Villa is close to all the action of Waikiki but just far enough away for relaxation...
The pool deck on the 29th floor had amazing views...The condo itself was extremely clean and well laid out for 2 people..starting your day with the free paper and coffee in the am on the lanai & ending the day watching the sunset from the 21st floor...Free parking and laundry was a bonus...The owners were very friendly and prompt with communication...look forward to future stays at the Satz's condos.....
