“A well spent few hours :)”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

I had a crazy trip business trip to Hawaii. I flew there and landed in the evening and then I flew back very next morning.
I chose a hotel due to ratings on hotels.com, which were very good. The only thing I feel sory is, that I did not pay 30 $ more for a room with ocean view. But anyway, room was clean, there were enough fresh towels, soaps, etc., even a machine, where you could heat a water to cook a tea or a coffee. You also get a normal sized tea/coffee cup and a few tea bags.
The king size bed was very comfy, i slept well.
The personel is very nice and in my case also useful. You also get a key for a wifi.
The beach was 3 minute walk from my hotel (the Kalia tower). On the way there are many restaurants (Japanese and Italians), the only problem is, that after 10 pm the only restaurant, that stays open is Japanese fastfood. Where I actually ate.
The beach and water is clean, I even managed to swam in the pacific ocean :)

Room Tip: Take an ocean view, it is worth that extra bucks!

My wife and I came here for our Honeymoon. We were upgraded to a corner room on the ocen side of the Rainbow Tower. One word: WOW! The rooms were gorgeous and spacious, and the view was phenomenal.

All of the staff were very nice and friendly, and willing to do anything for you.

The entire city of a complex they have is amazing. All the activities, restaurants, stores, and pools that are available are top notch.

This was the first time we were in Hawaii, it wont be our last. Everytime we see the Hilton Hawaiian on the new Hawaii Five-O, we want to go back. The island was gorgeous and so was the resort. Hilton Hawaiian, thank you so much for a great Honeymoon. We will be back.

Room Tip: Rainbow Tower if you can

We stayed in the Rainbow tower I think on the 23 floor over looking the Pacific Ocean and Diamond Head. I requested the carpet be cleaned and they did that ASAP. Not enough pools though and some Asians are overbearing and pee in the pools, so that was gross ( that comes right from a pool guard). They need to in force that you DONT pee in pools. The resort is big but I found it very easy to get around. The elevator system is junk there was someone working on it everyday and the Asian people would just climb on top of you. But overall a Good time.
We are travel agents so we really look close at Resorts to make recommendations. I would book this Resort if you like Action and The Busy of Waikiki. kvstravel.com

I had read some mixed reviews so was hesitant on booking this resort for our stay in Oahu. We started our trip on the Big Island and met a family that had come from this resort and added to my concern. However, from the start we LOVED it. We received a very friendly greeting, got an upgrade to a jr. suite and the room was just a short walk from the entrance (having just come from the Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island was great not to have to make a huge trek.) Room was huge! Had two queen beds in the first room, then bathroom, living area with sleeper sofa, and enormous balcony. We travel quite a bit and our lucky kiddos get to share a sleeper sofa a lot and have to say that this one was one of the more comfortable ones compared to other places we've stayed. Only negative was room was out-dated but could care less because the size was great for our family of four, beds were comfy and had a wonderful view of Waikiki beach. My kids loved the pools with the slides and even though it is a large resort, didn't feel too big to us. Decent beach with view of Diamond Head, my kids enjoyed trying the paddle board in the lagoon and really liked that it was a short walk to check out Waikiki. Some places worth eating at are the Steak Shack near the beach for lunch...good food/great price and Chuck's Cellar for dinner (little further walk...but again...really good price for what you get including soup/salad bar.) Waikiki itself is over-crowded but never felt over-crowded at the hotel...always found chairs at the pools, seats at the casual dining places to enjoy some drinks etc. There were some long lines at the water slides but they moved quickly. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family if staying in Waikiki.

I stayed here over the 2014 July 4th weekend. I booked a ocean/city view in the rainbow tower. It was $500 plus a night. The room was on the 24th floor and though the room was not worth the price the view was great. Service was excellent but beware of the breakfast buffet since its $30 plus. Right on the beach and lots of stores in the resort...most high end but others reasonable for Hawaii and fun. I would stay here again but in a normal room.

Room Tip: Book the rainbow tower.

We spent a week here for our honeymoon. We were upgraded to the Rainbow Tower and the view was fantastic. Definitely worth the stay! It's nice to walk right down to the beach. There are multiple pools to enjoy. There is also a large lagoon where you can rent paddle boards, paddle bikes, etc to play with. The shops and restaurants are convenient. The luau at the resort is very nice - good food and easy to walk to. Location is very convenient to get to other shopping and activities. There is a rental car company (National) on site - so it was easy to rent a car and pick it up right in the parking garage of the resort and return it there.

The not so good...
The resort is very large which means a lot of people. If you want to eat a restaurant in the village, you need to make a reservation. If you stay in the Rainbow Tower, the elevator system they use is SLOW. There are 5 elevators - you walk up and choose what floor you want to go to. It then tells you which elevator you need to wait for. If you choose to rent lounge chairs and an umbrella for the beach, it's expensive - $60 for a day. Walking out into the water is difficult as it is very rocky along the shore there.

For a cheaper breakfast choice, there is a nice diner on the corner - a very short walk. All you can eat pancakes for $7. Definitely cheaper than the resort options.

Our checkout was at 11am. Our airplane didn't leave until 9pm. We were given a hospitality suite for 45 minutes to freshen up before heading to the airport - free of charge.

Overall, it's very nice. We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: It's definitely worth trying to upgrade to the Tapas Tower, Ali Tower or the Rainbow Tower. They...

This is an amazing property with many amenities, but it was too busy for us. My husband described it as "Vegas on the beach," which is pretty accurate. It's very busy, very crowded, and quite expensive. My test of a good resort is the pool food, and the Hilton's wasn't great. In fact, their computers were down while we were there for Spring Break, so it was virtually impossible to get food within a reasonable amount of time. In addition, the main pool was so cold that everyone tried cramming into the one with the slide, which made things very chaotic.

We were given a reasonable paid upgrade to a Tapa Tower One-bedroom suite, which was a fabulous room facing the ocean. We enjoyed eating breakfast on the balcony each morning. The location on Waikiki Beach is great if you are looking for a lot of activity.

Room Tip: Email the hotel in advance about upgrading to a suite for a nominal amount
