My partner and I spent a week in Waikiki and had the pleasure of staying at the Hyatt Place. First off, the staff and customer service was amazing. Our room wasn't available upon arrival, but they were able to place us in a temporary room to wind down, freshen up and relax after the long flight. After our room was available, they immediately sent someone up to give us our new keys and assist us with our bags!

We decided to extend our stay one extra day and the management worked well with us, arranging it so we wouldn't have to switch rooms (even though they were nearly sold out!!!) Thank you Emery! :)

We had the Ocean View King Room which was VERY spacious and had a great view of the Beach! The bed was very comfortable, the room itself was clean and cozy.

Location was great, right next door to the ABC shop and there was a store inside the hotel. A block away from Waikiki beach and the main strip of Kalakalua :)

The hotel also offers a full breakfast buffet every morning!

For the value - this place has it all! Would definitely stay again!

Room Tip: I would highly recommend the King Oceanview Deluxe. It's on a higher floor, away from any street noise and the view is great!

We stayed at the Hyatt for three nights at the beginning of September. We arrived around 1:30 and talked to the valet guys. They gave us the last self parking pass and told us where to find the parking garage. Self parking is $18 per night. We parked in the garage and attempted to check-in. We were told our room wasn't ready yet (no problem), so we headed to the beach, which is only two very short blocks away, and grabbed lunch and did a little browsing. By the time we returned (around 3:15) our room was ready. Our room was on the 14th floor with a partial mountain view. I read several reviews and checked out several photos prior to booking, so I knew the room would be on the small side and the mountain views would be partially obstructed by other hotels. Again, not a problem. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and road noise not an issue. Several people have commented in their reviews that the pigeons are bad in the breakfast area and that the elevators are slow. I didn't find the pigeons to be as bad as everyone said. They just walked around. I didn't see any fly up on to tables or pick food off of people's plates. As far as the elevators, one time we may have waited four or five minutes around breakfast time, but the rest of the time we waited for a minute or two.

Self parking worked out well too. We got back to the hotel late one night and all the spots were full. My wife talked to one of the valet parking attendants while I waited in the parking garage and they walked with her back to the garage to show us what other spots were available for us to park in. Essentially they opened up their handicap and one reserved spot for anyone to park in. Other than that, we had no problems parking any other times.

What more can I say? The free hot breakfast was great each morning and the staff was friendly.

Room Tip: The rush hour traffic in Waikiki is horrible. If making plans to leave the Waikiki area to go to the North Shore, or a luau, or Dole Plantation, or Pearl Harbor, etc. Be sure to add a lot of extra time for traffic if traveling during rush hour. Northbound traffic (heading out of Waikiki) starts before 8:00 am and Southbound traffic (heading into Waikiki) starts before 3:30 pm. Trust me, you don't want to get stuck in this traffic.

We arrived at the Hyatt Place on a early flight from Australia and were lucky enough to have our room ready and able to check in at no additional cost. The front desk was very helpful and showed us around the lobby and gave us the information on breakfast and wifi etc for the hotel.

We stayed on the 15th Floor (1535) in Deluxe, Ocean View room with 2 Queen Beds which was great. The room was very spacious with plenty of room for the three of us staying in the room. There was a drainage problem in the shower/bath on the first morning but was fixed quickly after speaking with reception. The beds were comfortable and everything worked. Overall we were very happy with the room we stayed in.

The hotel is a short walk from the water and Waikiki beach. There is convenience store attached to the hotel and an ABC store very close for all your needs. The breakfast in the hotel was ok, good enough to get some food in before heading out to the beach. For the price we paid, the Hyatt Place is a great option for anyone coming to Waikiki and not wanting to break the budget on their hotel.

Room Tip: Room 1535 Deluxe, Ocean View was nice and spacious with a good view to of the Ocean.

We arrived at The Hyatt Place, Waikiki Beach on the second leg of our U.S tour.

Upon arrival, the hotel foyer is spacious and clean with a modern contemporary design. There's plenty of seating to the front and side of the lobby area, plus a bar, a business centre and gift shop to the side and rear of the hotel respectively.

At the reception desk you are greeted with a friendly Aloha and checking in was professional, quick and efficient.

Our room was a deluxe ocean view which was on the 20th floor. The room comprised of a bathroom with a sink and walk in shower, plenty of clean towels and a hairdryer. A sofa in the lounge area (which doubles as a sofa bed), a coffee table; a study desk to the rear of the room and a massive king size bed with a dressing table and large LCD TV to the side. The room also has an ironing board, iron, safe and a refrigerator in the room for you to use.

The ocean view from our room was amazing but I would ask for a room on a higher floor as the view might not be as good on a lower level floor.

The hotels complimentary free WIFI was ok and a signal could be found in the room but it wasn’t the quickest, but definitely not the slowest either.

Each morning between 6.30-9.30am there is a free buffer breakfast served on the 3rd floor by the pool area. The breakfast consists of cereals, bagels, muffins, fruit, toast, juices, tea and coffee, continental breakfast and scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages (varies each day). The breakfast is unlimited, tasty and filling which sets you up for the day ahead.

Each Day our room was cleaned to a high standard by the cleaners, ready for our return.

The hotel staff was very helpful, professional and courteous at all times. There is also an Expedia Agent onsite (Cameron) with whom you can book all your tours and tickets from. TIP (If you plan on booking a trip to big island make sure you pay the $10 extra each and fly Hawaiian Airlines and do NOT book with GO AIRLINES! THEY ARE VERY UNRELIABLE) but he will tell you this anyway.

The hotel is ideally situated one block from Waikiki beach and the promenade. There is an ABC store next to the hotel which sells most things and open till 0030hrs.

Don't bother taking beach towels with you as the hotel will let you take theirs to the beach or pool on confirmation of your room number.

Talking of the pool, it isn’t the biggest. The pool is 3ft deep at the shallow end and 1.5m at the deep end and is roughly 15ft wide by 45ft long (approx).

On the third floor there is also a laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers (not free to use), there is also a small gymnasium next to the pool area (which is free to use).

We did not drink at the bar but they did do a happy hour daily between 1600-1800hrs where draft beers are $3.50 and Mai Tai's are $5.

If you are bored of the sun and beach the hotel does have activities throughout the day for you to try if you wish.

The only negatives that I could find with the hotel were:-

The birds! During breakfast time they will swoop down and eat any food left lying around either on the floor or the tables, but you get used to it after a couple of days. Just make sure someone is sitting at the table and they won’t bother you. This problem however isn't really the hotels fault and the staff do try to move the birds on during the breakfast period.

There are two lift in the hotel which can be slow during busy periods i.e. breakfast and late evening. My advice is to get on the lift whether it’s going up or down then select your floor once you’re on it otherwise you will be waiting a while.

On the whole the pros far outweigh the cons and The Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach is definitely value for your money.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and have an ocean or mountain view room but ask for a room on a higher floor for maximum viewing pleasure.
