The room was great! Big thanks to Crystal in reservations. Very comfortable bed and an amazing view of the ocean and part of Diamond head. You can also see Koko Head off in the distance. We were celebrating our anniversary so we went out to dinner. When we got back, there was a bottle of Cabernet and two glasses waiting for us.

Having read the reviews about this hotel before we went, to be honest I was actually dreading staying here. Now having actually experienced this hotel myself I have to say some people need to get over themselves. This hotel is great. Great location, excellent staff, lovely rooms (if not a little dated), genuine all round great stay. There is some modernisation being undertaken right now, which, when completed, can only enhance your stay. We had no problems at all staying here. We had a room on the 5th floor of the main block (not tower) overlooking the pool area. We had a great balcony, if not a little small, with a partial view of the ocean. Yes the pool is a little crowded, and perhaps too small for a hotel of this size, but who needs a pool when you have the entire Pacific Ocean a couple of hundred metres away?
The only downside I have is the resort fee. Definitely not worth the money unfortunately, you'd have to go some to get the value out of it. A few bottles of water and free internet access does not warrant $25 per day I'm sorry to say. At least consider a pay as you go resort fee that way people are only paying for what they actually use.
Otherwise I would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat.

This is an older hotel from the 60's, and even with renovation, it shows its age. Location is perfect but its a block away from the beach. Lobby areas are really nice but the valet areas are very crowded and often impossible to get your car in as you try to check in. Before you get to the front, you may be stopped by some "time sharing" venders so be aware. Rooms are rather small and view we got was looking toward the east with a glimpse of Diamond Head. Maybe other rooms could be better. But the price was good.
Pool is nice and lots of room to relax with a nice bar. However it seems it gets shaded by other tall buildings nearby, making it not very inviting and even too cold in December.
Location is great to all the shops and dining. Beach is very close within a minute or two across Kalakaua Ave. Next to International Market and Kings Alley and shopping complex of Hyatt Regency.

We stayed here in late 2011, so we knew it was a good location. This time we had a high oceanview room (level 20) in the tower and the views were amazing. This is an older hotel and looks a bit worn in places, but it's still a great place to stay just across the road from the iconic Waikiki Beach.
The staff here are friendly and very helpful, we couldn't fault them at all. The hotel seems to have had a bit of a makeover since our last visit, partcularly in the reception area.
Now, there are a couple of negatives...The restaurant is way overpriced. You can find better eating within a five minute walk at a MUCH lower price.
The other negative is the 'Resort Fee'. This was, I recall about $12 - $13 per day in 2011, now its $25, a 100% increase, for what they describe as 'valuable extra services'.
In reality, these are nothing of the kind....internet access, which is generally free in hotels around the world, parking (great if you actually have a car to park), a couple of bottles of water in your room every day, AND, if you are on the beach at the right time (times vary) an extra bottle of water and an apple or orange (your choice). Woopy Doo! And that's the extent of these 'valuable extra services'.
My personal opinion is that that the resort fee is way too much and is simply a grab for extra dollars. We have decided that as a matter of pinciple, and solely due to the resort fee, we will not return to this hotel.
That said, apparently the Moana Surfrider across the road is charging a $50 resort fee. Wow! Who's silly enough to pay that?

Room Tip: Go for a high level in the tower for little noise and no flies.

We stayed here for 5 days. We were never in our room. Room is ok size. The bed and the carpet were older and needs some TLC. It was right in the middle of Honolulu. I prefer to stay away from the Honolulu. But if it is your first time stay somewhere around here. The price was decent for this area. Its near the Westin Moana Hotel which has a nice bar we liked and near the beach.

If you're looking for a beach resort to hang out, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a reasonably priced, good quality Waikiki hotel where you can sleep and clean-up, this is a good choice. Granted this hotel is older and a bit warn. But they are remodelling and should look fresher soon.

The hotel is located right in the heart of Waikiki along with many high priced and crowded hotels. You can walk up and down Waikiki rather easily and it's right across the street from the beach.

But the best part is that parking and internet use is included in the hotel's resort fee. OK - all of the hotels charge a resort fee now, so accept it. And $25 to park your car in Waikiki and have internet access is a deal. It also includes beach towels, etc. Also, the parking lot is easily accessible off the side streets, Kuhio or Ala Wai, so you can get in and out of the Waikiki area faster.
