“Not great value for money but fewer alternatives during peak (dec) season”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 January 2014

Paid 1st nite rate at $150 including the amenities fees (hardly used internet) but rates got bumped up to near $200 for the next nite stay including overnight car park charges due to demand (Honolulu Marathon weekend).

Felt" boxed in" with the room size and had little elbow room in the bathroom. No complaint however about cleanliness.

Lots of shops below for clothes art but check out the Expedia desk to get travel tips, car hires etc and buy tickets for dinner shows at a discount esp Legends show (Elvis & others) for a good night's entertainment.

Did not frequent the aquarium restaurant - there are othere eateries on the right side of the hotel which offers better value (though not a buffet) for breakfast.

All hotels on this stretch of Waikiki are well located to the beach and shopping and for these, you pay a premium rate. I would rather go elsewhere if they have better rates as we just need bed and hardly use any of the hotel amenities such as pool or even internet.

Room Tip: higher floors with mountain or seaview

Compared to other hotels in the area, Pacific Beach is overpriced. The amenities fee of $20/night was unnecessary, because there was nothing of significance that was passed on to the guests for that price, especially when parking was an additional $25/night. The amenities fee should include parking but it only included 2 collapsible water bottles that you can use to fill up with water from the water station downstairs, and a discounted pass to 24 Hour Fitness, among other useless offerings. Personally, I didn't bother with the bottles because the cleanliness of the dispenser was questionable. (I saw someone rub the spigot with their fingers while getting water -- ick!) I'd rather spend a couple bucks at an ABC Store to buy a gallon of water to use in the room.

While they offer internet access (came with the $20/night amenities fee), they also offer faster internet access for an additional fee. They were going to charge me $20/hour extra when I requested late check-out. Hotels I've stayed at have always been generous with 1-2 hours of late check-out when requested.

Also, there is a funny smell in the lobby area. The lobby area is hard to find when entering from Kalakaua Ave. It's actually in the middle of the 1st floor. The rooms are outdated and could use some sprucing up. Water pressure is poor when other guests are using the shower in their guestrooms. It needs extra security in elevators that gives access to guestroom levels with room key. Air conditioning did not always work. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner if you can. Bed was too soft and the sheets did not fit to cover the entire mattress.

I did appreciate that we were able to stay in the all non-smoking tower. It was a good idea to separate the 2 towers. We got the partial ocean view room and that was this hotel's saving grace, but it really didn't make up for the price we paid for it. Overall, the hotel did not give us good value for the money. It needs major improvement and update.

Room Tip: One tower is designated as non-smoking. Rooms with best partial ocean views are closer to elevators...

Amazing Views! Nice Mermaid show. Very convienient to Waikiki. Great value. The rooms on the lower floors were slightly abstructed so I highly recommend chosing a room as high as possible for the best views.

Room Tip: The ocean view rooms on the top floors are breathtaking! Great for sunbathing & avoiding the cr...

My husband and I stayed here two nights in December before taking our 20th anniversary 7-day cruise. The budget friendly price and location could not be beat. Being across the street from the beach made it easy for us to enjoy leisurely strolls at the start and end of each day. The sunrise and view of Diamond Head from the beach was awesome!

We were given refillable water bottles which were wonderful and we used them our entire vacation. Our room was extremely clean and comfortable, although a little dated and noisy.

At first we were discouraged from eating at the hotel's restaurant because of the expensive price of the buffet -- however, don't let that keep you away. We ordered from the breakfast 'specials' and were blown away!!! The $10 breakfast specials were amazing and extremely huge portions -- the food was so wonderful that we went back the second morning and ordered ONE meal and shared it - and still had food left over.

This hotel was OK but charged a resort fee of $20 per day plus $25 per day for parking. There is no real bar, the restaurant is expensive , and the serving staff rushed us, moving chairs and tables while we were still eating. The pool is very small and ugly (no landscaping at all). The lobby is a big open space with hardly any seating for the many guests waiting for cabs etc. It is not a "resort", so why the fee?

The hotel was just ok. Not worth the money paid. Would have preferred to stay elsewhere. The hotel lobby is ok, but the rooms are dated, the bathrooms look old - once in the room, it seems like you are in a motel. The towels are paper thin. The sheets are cheap. The beds seem old and are uncomfortable. The furniture is old. The window sills were dirty. Plus you pay extra "resort" fees on top of your hotel stay charges. Go stay elsewhere, not worth the money!! Had a partial view of ocean. Heard the elevators alllllll night.

The location is perfect. We had room 1606 - partial ocean view…it really was partial but you could see the ocean :) The staff were great, they give you water bottles at check in and have water stations around the hotel to fill up, we really liked that. Rooms are a little dated but that doesn't matter to us, we were very comfortable and the rooms were very clean.
