“Some information for you”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

We stayed at Lotus for several days based on the reviews on TA and our experience was slightly above average after taking many things into account. The hotel's greatest attribute is the customer service - possibly the best service we have received at any hotel in North America and likely do to the fact that it is a boutique hotel with less than 50 rooms therefore the attention to guest satisfaction is higher than a standard hotel. For this I give them full credit as everyone from the valet to housekeeping do a fine job (the staff here actually run to complete tasks which wasn't necessary but fun to watch). The free evening wine and water during our stay were nice touches as well. The hotel was recently renovated but that doesn't mean everything is new as many areas of the hotel and room were untouched. For example, our bathroom was very old and motel-esque and not particularly clean compared to other $400/nt hotels. Higher end hotels will often do a renovation which means everything is new in the room but I would classify the Lotus as having done a partial renovation. Now, I should clarify that we have been to Waikiki a dozen times and if this was our first stay in Waikiki we would have been very pleased overall especially if we knew beforehand that there is no pool, pool access or fitness facility and didn't expect these amenities, which we were aware of. However we have been to Waikiki and stayed at other hotels therefore we have the luxury of making comparisons which is why we suggest this hotel is average. The location is definitely away from the crowds of Waikiki on Kalakaua but a short 10 minute walk if you want to be in the Waikiki mix but there is a large park almost beside the hotel which has some interesting characters. The massive park across the street is filled with people doing athletics. The hotel shares a private beach with Outrigger but it is very small and there is a lot of coral and rock a few meters into the water so bring water shoes if you intend to hit the beach and enter the water. I would recommend staying here for $200/nt but at $400/nt you can do better unless your primary focus is service within the hotel because that aspect is unparalleled. We did not try the restaurant during our stay but the reviews on TA appear to be good.

Room Tip: Try to get a corner room with ocean AND diamond head views and two balconies for a good ocean breeze...

I will stay here again should I have the good fortune to return to Oahu. Great location. Tremendous staff. Had a view of Diamond Head and the beach. Close to everything, but far away enough to feel more private.

Helpful staff and welcoming ambience. Rooms are larger than usual and the views spectacular. Worth paying for the Ocean View and ours (Rm 825) also had mountain views. Free tea/coffee; iced water in lobby; and free wine were "value add" inclusions. A pool would be a bonus.

This was formerly the W Honolulu. Quiet part of town at Diamond Head, about a ten minute walk to the centre of town. Rooms really nice and contemporary. no pool, but beach a couple of minutes walk and towels can be provided. The staff were excellent especially the guy on reception with initials on his badge something like PK (?), he was friendly, interested and charming. Restaurant food very good, but dining room needs livening up with some candles and flowers on table an better lighting - does not do the food justice.

This hotel was wonderful! The people and the location were the best. Far enough away from the Waikiki hubbub, but a stone's throw to walk to Waikiki Beach, amazing restaurants and shopping. Great location. No need for a car.
We preferred the more private beaches right behind the hotel. The surf was gentle, and swimmable (or standable!) not the throbbing body surfing shores of Waikiki (unless you choose to paddle out a ways.
This was the only property that we searched that didn't have a "hidden" amenity fee of at least $50 per day as it included FOR FREE
WIFI, YOGA, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, beach towels, chairs, OPEN WINE BAR during"happy hour" (3pm - 5pm) NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL A HAPPY HOUR!
Last but not least one of the most exemplary concierge services I've seen in the world, BAR NONE.

Perfect location. The hotel was a quiet refuge from the frenetic activity and noise of downtown Waikiki while still being an easy walk to all amenities. We had a room (1022) with a great view of Diamond Head and the ocean- the beach was a minutes walk away. Free beach towels chairs and mats were provided, free wine every afternoon in the lobby , cheaply priced laundry facilities and a staff that was friendly and accommodating. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

If you like smaller, intimate boutique hotels; then the Lotus on Waikiki beach is for you.

Beautifully appointed lobby and guest rooms with all the modern conviniences. This was our anniversary and splurged on a corner, upper floor room with full ocean and diamond head views. We could see the surfers and hear the waves crash from our two balconies. I recommend the '25 room types - well worth the extra few dollars.

We took part of the hotel's complimentary one hour yoga each morning, at the park next to us. Wonderful way to start your day. The hotel also offers complimentary wine at cocktail hour. The staff is excellent, professional and very courteous.

Take note that though the hotel has a restaurant; it offers limited service so best to double check hours of operations when you check in. The lotus is in a mostly residential location with few outside restaurants nearby (Waikiki strip is a 20 min walk).
