“Get there early!”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

Valley Forge is not easy to get to unless you're next door in Philadelphia or Youngstown, so plan accordingly. The park itself offers a window into the vast scenic fields and vistas, with periodic cabins and monuments to view. However, the locals seem to consider the roads a freeway to race through, without regard to the visitors. The attractions, such as Washington's HQ and the Chapel close ten minutes earlier than advertised, so we missed out on those.

“A Well-presented National Treasure”
Reviewed 30 April 2014 via mobile

The park service has done a good job with the park at Valley Forge. It is clearly laid out and labeled. The rangers in the visitor center were very helpful and knowledgeable. There is a phone tour that will explain the various stops. The stops themselves are well-labeled. The lady in Washington's headquarters was very helpful and insightful. I would highly recommend a visit. This is a great visit for those interested in history or American heritage. It is about a half-day visit.

“A great pocket of nature to enjoy in the Philadelphia area”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

Valley Forge is known for its role as a winter camp for the downtrodden rebel army during the American revolution and plenty of evidence of that is on offer. What makes it more special is that it is a big open meadow-type nature park in an otherwise quite built up and hectic part of the world. Cross in to the park and all the bustle of King of Prussia and the many malls, big-box stores, office parks, hotels, highways, etc. melts away. It's a wonderful place for a walk or a run or a bike ride any time of the year.

“Beautiful park, great history”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

We had the privilege of going to Valley Forge National Park.

It was a beautiful day - we watched the movie in the theater, grabbed a map at the Visitors Center (which was nice and full of displays and information), and bought the CD for the driving tour. (Went on a weekday in Spring and no Ranger Tours as of yet.) The driving tour was great - hit the highlights with a good background of information.

The best part was Washington's Headquarters. The house is 75% original - the same bannister George and Martha Washington used. The best part was Park Ranger Bill Troppmann. We could have stayed there and listened to him talk all day. He was informative, knowledgeable, and a dynamic speaker.

We can't wait to come back and do a Ranger Tour and/or one of the Bicycle Tours. It's a beautiful National Park and one that we would like to visit again.

“Informative and Free”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

Be sure to get a map at the visitor center. Things are spread out and there are multiple meandering roads. Its a nice setting and the exhibits are informative. There's a fair amount of walking from the parking areas at Washington's headquarters and at the Visitor Center.
