“once again wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2014

We stayed here twice on our way to and from Florida.
This is a wonderful, relaxing oasis to bring a family or loved one.
We stay in a room that accommodates 4 and is very roomy.
The entire staff is great. Saundra and Sandra are wonderful and kind.
Chris, the owner, was kind and generous. We ate dinner early and knew we would be hungry later and he brought us 5 wonderful breads with butter.
Nick the waiter is crazy and fun and attentive. This is still a home away from home you must enjoy. Breakfast is included in your room. Mary makes a mean breakfast. The place is old but clean. The pool is beautiful. We come every single year and this is very consistent. The mansion is a bit haunted so you will hear some great stories. I had a little ghost boy follow me home. Overall great stay and food. You must come here!
Grits are great. Food is great. Desserts are great. Limited wine list but you can find what you like.

Room Tip: The davis room is very authentic and cozy.

My husband and I, along with another couple, stayed at Anchuca for 2 nights earlier this week. We had rooms in the carriage house alongside the main house. The rooms were extremely comfortable and met our needs. Within 30 seconds we could walk to the lush patio area and enter the house. Our morning breakfast was hearty and tasty. We also enjoyed an evening meal in the restaurant. It was our stay at beautiful, historical, Anchuca and the gracious hospitality shown by all that helped make our visit to Vicksburg and the Battlefield Park all the more special and memorable.

Room Tip: Can't go wrong with "Ellen's" room. Decorated to portray the Civil war era but has...

We stayed elsewhere but went on the tour through this beautifully kept mansion. We wished they had a room available because it was the best kept B&B we had seen in Vicksburg with extremely friendly staff. The rooms looked clean and appears to be the only place, with most hotels included, that have flat screen TVs.

I stayed at Anchuca over memorial day weekend and had a marvelous time. The Maitresse d'hotel, Tarsha (spelling?) was a wonderful, peppy lady who makes a mean martini and anticipated our every need. The pool was clean and a pleasure to swim in. The house is beautiful, and I particularly enjoyed playing the grand piano. The food is an upscale version of classic Southern fare. Both decadent and lighter options are available. Breakfast features a signature cheese grits that is unique. Overall, I enjoyed my stay immensely. We reserved the formal dining room for a family party (limit 12, although I was told side tables could be brought out if needed) and the serivce, ambiance, and food quality for that was first rate.

Room Tip: The rooms in the main house, while more expensive, are the most beautiful. Worth the extra cost in...

The ownership had changed but the wonderfully historic feeling of the Anchuca remained the same. We stayed in Room#1 and it was very comfortable as I'm sure all the rooms are. Dinner at the Anchuca was average at best, as was the breakfast. I will say that our waitress was great fun and on top of things although she was waiting all the tables herself and also doubled as the bartender. Thirty three years was a long time in between visits but well worth it!

Stayed for one night in March 2013. Arrived just before dark to a note left on door with location of key. I can tell you that arriving to this very old house to no one around was spooky beyond belief. The décor authenticity and charm of this house cannot be denied. We booked for 3 and were given the Davis suite. We were the only people staying in the house that night and my daughter and I shared the master bed, kept lights and tv on and I swear didn't sleep a wink through our own made up fears of this very old house LOL Breakfast was awesome but the grits were wasted on us :( sorry! Amazing property would recommend anyone to stay here its really very unique .. we would definitely stay again however would prepare to stay up all night freaking ourselves out. Probably don't look up any haunting stories before you do (and I never told my daughter about them til we left) LOL

We recently stayed here on a tour around the Southern States. We stayed in Room 2 in the Old Quarters, this was up an external wooden stair above the restaurant. The accommodation was absolutely stunning - it married the old and the new very well. A very large room with traditional furnishings, a large bed, plenty of cupboard space and large flat screen TV. The bathroom was very modern and the shower huge. Breakfasts were very good and as others have said the grits were very tasty. Good off street parking and a very picturesque swimming pool. It was perhaps a bit more like a restaurant with rooms rather than a bed and breakfast but whatever you called it I am glad we booked there.

Room Tip: If you want a large room with a fabulous bathroom choose room 2 in the servants quarter.
