“Poor customer service”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

The lady behind the desk treats everyone like they're stupid. I didn't care for her rude attitude.
Several stray hairs found in room and on the bed.. It's worth the extra money to stay elsewhere.

The price was right - $40, but even so the place needs a good cleaning and a handyman.
The room was a good size, the bed was comfortable, but I was a little put off by the fact that the toilet was missing half it's lid. How much can a toilet seat cost??
The refrig hadn't been defrosted in years and the microwave was missing the dial knob - I would have to have had a pair of pliers to use it. The bedspread had a hole in it and the sofa had cigarette burns even though the room was a no-smoking one. The cable wire wasn't connected properly to the TV impacting the reception.
It's clear that this hotel is used a lot by workers - the parking lot was filled with work trucks.
One room must have been for long term use - there was a small charcoal grill sitting outside - not sure if that was acceptable to the fire code.
I have to say though that the breakfast area was the best kept I've seen - even in the more expensive hotels and the food was adequate.
I'd recommend you spend a bit more somewhere else.

After reading the other reviews, I decided to use this motel. It was clean. King size bed was great. Staff was excellent. Wife was really impressed with them. The ladies at the desk answered all my questions. Pet friendly. Just $5 extra. If you are going to see the battlefield, this motel is just down the road, less than a mile. For the price, I was quite surprised.

If there was a negative, I would have to say I was a little disappointed there was not a coffee pot in the room. When we aquired about getting one, they told the wife that there was not a coffee pot in any room, so something must have happened that they pulled them all out of the room. But they always have free coffee and all you can drink in the lobby, all day long. Never heard people in the other rooms, so real quiet at night.

We spent four nights and was quite happy with the room and service.

I would stay here again if I ever need a room in Vicksburg.

Room Tip: If you want coffee in room, bring your own pot and coffee.

Check in was easy, with friendly staff. Room is basic and dated, but clean and fuctional. Room had fridge and microwave, but no coffee maker. Sink is in room with ample counter space. Area above sink dimly lit. Two thick/firm pillows were provided per queen bed. Tube TV, but sharp picture. Clock radio was defective and made noises all night. Told manager, and she is replacing. Breakfast was basic, clean area with ample seating. Have stayed here multiple times, and quality remains high. Would stay here again. Drove to Vicksburg Battlefield which was just down the road on Clay Street - very convenient. Waffle house right next door, Cracker Barrell is across the street in an outlet mall.

Room Tip: Ask for a first floor room. No interior rooms or elevator. If on first floor, you can pull your ca...

We used to always stay at Hampton Inns but often we get in late and leave early and they are usually alot of money for something you don't get to really enjoy... SO we have been using some Choice Hotels recently with good success. This place was quite inexpensive and met our needs perfectly. Beds were comfy as well as pillows. Room was very clean and even had microwave and mini frig. Breakfast actually had good, basic variety. The attendant even makes the waffles for you! Location was in a busy, but safe area. I must say when we first drove up I was a little unsure since there were tons of vans and trucks and people were hanging out on balcony. I think workers needing to be in area must use this place and I can't blame them since it is very nice for the price. When we returned after going to a casino about 11:00, place was very quiet and stayed that way all night. I would stay here again if I was in the area for an overnight stay.

Room Tip: Join Choice Hotels group. Use AAA or senior discount if possible.

(The city of Vicksburg as a whole appears economically depressed and in need of updating. The older motels seem to be where you can get a room for under $100 a night. And they are not in the best of shape. There are some shiny, new hotels – but you will be paying premium prices.)

We were traveling with our pet and did a search for pet-friendly lodging in Vicksburg. Our price, with pet fee and taxes, was about $70 for the night.

The property was old but the rooms were unusually spacious. Our room had a king sized bed and a loveseat with coffee table. There was the usual desk and dresser. And there was a mini-fridge and microwave.

The carpet, furniture, and bedding were worn, and the older model TV was teetering on its’ broken stand. The mattress was firm but not uncomfortable. The biggest problem for us was the pillows. They were worn-out feather pillows and they compressed down to nothing. I stacked two and then folded them in half to try to get some support.

It is ok for an overnight rest-stop if you aren’t picky. (I’d compare the quality to an older cabin at a state park – if that gives you an idea.) The lady in the office was friendly. The lobby was updated and hosted a nice continental breakfast.

Ultimately, we decided to cancel our reservation for the return trip and try our luck finding another pet-friendly hotel in Vicksburg. We probably won't stay there again when there are other options yet to try.

This motel is for travelers who want someplace cheap, but quite acceptable. The property is no-frills. Staff seem harried, but they greet the customers. Breakfast is nothing much: bagels, dry cereals, instant oatmeal, waffles-with-assistance. After hunting around for this location, I found it along an access/service road. I'm quite satisfied and would stay here again.
