Owner description: Fort Walla Walla Museum is a walking museum located on 17 acres, and is a must-see for visitors. As the primary caretaker of the cultural and historical heritage of the Walla Walla Valley, the Museum features four large exhibit halls housing thousands of artifacts, a pioneer village, a 33-mule team hitched to a wooden combine, and more. The Entrance Building features several galleries, including one for rotating special exhibits, and an admission-free Museum Store filled with books and heritage gifts. On the lower level of the grounds is a Pioneer Village with 17 buildings, many of them furnished, for guests to explore. There are more than 40 living history performances every year that take place in the village. The Museum also hosts additional activities, classes, and events—like the free Museum After Hours presentation series, which features thought-provoking topics on everything from history to conservation. The Fort Walla Walla Museum provides a memorable experience for the whole family, and you’re sure to learn something new during every visit. Come see what’s new at the old fort today!

Fun time at the Fort. Learned a lot about the early wheat agriculture of the area. Staff were very friendly. The Pioneer Village was special with the reinactments there. We especially like the Buffalo Soldiers with their horses.

A good museum to visit especially during there museum days. A lot of history and things to see. Most displays are in buildings so you could go on a rainy day.

If you want to learn massive amounts of history with physical objects and items that help you build mental pictures this place is the place to go! It is great for all ages, I have been going since I was 3 and I'm almost 17 and still enjoy it! They add things, change it up, and sometimes they have reenactments of certain time periods! I'm thankful that there is a beautiful park and cemetery next to the museum!

This museum is open almost every day of the year. It is very interesting because it contains historic buildings that you can visit and see how people lived. The museum this trip contained an excellent Civil War exhibit. The West usually doesn't have great artifacts. This museum took a look at the Officers in the Civil War that served in the West before and after the Civil War. The ladies dresses were a fantastic addition. There was an exhibit of Native American beadwork that had been part of a family's collection. The family history, pictures, and items gave a very interesting picture of the relationship between the family and the Native Americans. I also enjoyed the wedding dresses. We think they are incredible now, but there was one from
San Francisco that had all the types of decorations available. I will make sure I add Walla Walla to my itineraries when I travel through Tri Cities (Kennewick, Pasco, Richland).
