Owner description: One of the most prestigious art museums in the country, with over 100,000 works of art, this grandiose building atop an Eden Park hill, is well-known for its 19th-century European and American paintings, but also contains numerous other works including an outstanding pottery gallery.

We only allowed about three hours to visit this fine museum and could have stayed longer. Granted, we did have lunch during our visit, but it was delicious and eliminated our parking fee (spend $10 at the restaurant and parking is free). The building itself is an architectural treat and the galleries are gorgeous. The collection was impressive and we enjoyed the introductory gallery featuring iconic pieces of art from the museum's collection.

Arrived at the museum about 11am during the week. It is located in near Eden Park, one of the more picturesque areas in Cincinnati. The building that houses the exhibits is a work of art in itself. This art museum has some very nice exhibits from long ago. Many paintings and sculptures are included inside including a Native American area. Very nice. If you like pottery, there is an area for that. There is also a very nice restaurant inside that you can dine inside or out.
The best part about the museum is the fact that it is free. Just pay for parking.

The Cincinnati Art Museum is not to be missed if you're planning a trip to the area, or even if you live in the surrounding area and have never been. It is a beautiful building with marble floors on the main floor, a stunning double staircase rotunda at the center, and many different rooms to explore on the two levels. Families may wish to spend only 1-2 hours here, but if your group is really into art, plan to spend at least 2-3 hours. The traveling exhibits at the museum are high-quality, featuring works by such renowned artists as Monet, DuChamps, Dali, and John Everett Millais (of the Pre-Raphalite Brotherhood)--just to name a few! I especially enjoyed the recent exhibit of pieces from the museum's archives, which have not been seen by visitors for some time. What's more, there is now no entrance fee for the museum or even to the special exhibits, thanks to a very generous donor. It's only $4 to park, and you can have your parking validated if you eat the café. The café features upscale lunch fare and I also highly recommend it. (Although beware that it is a bit pricey for lunch food, but well worth it for the quality.) Before or after your visit, be sure to check out the surrounding Eden Park and consider a stop at the nearby Krohn Conservatory.

Great museum with several Picassos, a Van Gogh, a smattering of other impressionists. Also impressive though jumbled antiquities collection. Didn't have time to see it all, so hope to get back there. Salivated over Charles Harper tiles and prints in the gift shop.

What a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. The artwork is world-class, the restaurant is a wonderful, classy respite, and the price of admission can't be beat! (Free) even parking is free if you eat or buy something in the gift shop. We will be back.
