We live in the Cincinnati area and had an out-of-town guest visiting us. We didn't have a lot of time, so we wanted something fun, quick, and cheap that we could do together. This tower was the perfect solution! You get an amazing view of Cincinnati, the river, and the surrounding area. It costs $2/person. Children 5 years old and younger are free.

Parking can be a bit tricky. If you can't find metered parking on the street, there's parking caddy-corner from tower in the Fountain Square parking garage. It cost $5 and gets you several hours.

Be sure to visit the connected Hilton Cincinnati Netherlands Plaza hotel; pick up a booklet for a self guided tour. Also observatory located at top of building -- limited hours.

To really see the city and the Ohio River, you need to go to the top of the Carew Tower. The art deco inside the building is beautiful, too.

This is the kind of attraction that I seek out over the extremely advertised ones. You could very well visit Cincinnati and not even know that the Carew Tower has an observation deck... or that the Carew Tower even exists. I had done some research here on trip advisor and saw the reviews for the observation deck. I was a little worried about being able to find the elevators.
I didn't have any problems because there are actually signs that lead you to the elevators. I guess some of the other people who made reviews on here have the Ray Charles condition.
The first elevator is fast, but it scared me because the door took WAYY to long to open once on the 45th floor. I skipped the 45 to 48 floor death trap and took the stairs up to the deck.
The lady taking the money is nice if your nice to her. Looks like a very boring job.
The views are very nice and you can see for a long distance on a clear day. Definitely one of the coolest things to do in the city. Every major city should have at least one building with an observation deck.

My father-in-law and I spent hours at the Carew Tower (though you can take it in with a half hour to spare or make it a half-day excursion). Home to The Netherland Plaza Hotel and their tasty Orchids Sunday brunch, we had a delicious meal and then roamed the hotel to see the gorgeous Art Deco decor, the city-scape mural on the second floor, and then took the elevator for all of $2 up to near the top of the tower where we walked a short flight of stairs to one of the best views in the city (check ahead if anyone in your party is unable to walk a flight of stairs--unsure whether there is any alternative method of getting to the top). On your own or showing around new residents or visitors, it's a great place for a clear day to view the city and across the river to KY.
