“Going downhill”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

Been coming for 6 years here for a softball tournament. Every year I come back it looks worse and worse. It needs a good makeover. The rooms are missing paint. The shower gets clogged up every time you take a shower. And the parking situation of having no parking within a block makes it no fun.
There are lots of nice hotels in down town I would not consider this one of them.

I usually don't write reviews about hotels, but this was the worst experience. Where to start... I waited an hour for my wifi code to start working. The mini-fridge I requested took over an hour to come. Sink looked dirty from previous person shaving...gross! Office chair was disgusting! Later that night of my stay the wifi stopped working. Very hard to get any work done! I was on the phone with tech support for about an hour. It didn't start working for another hour after that.

The restaurant service is awfully slow! The two workers were so involved with their conversation with each other I couldn't tell if they were open for business. Ordering the the waitress was the most obnoxious experience. Middle of my order she asks why am I here. I'm here to eat! What a ridiculous question! Restaurant smells like a dirty beer rag. Overall this hotel has the worst service I've experienced. Food was really bad, especially for the price.

Sidenote: talking with the co-workers I was with, they also had a terrible experience with the restaurant. The worker actually referred to one of them to eat somewhere else!

Room Tip: Don't get the room I did ;)

I was in Cincinnati for a conference at this hotel, so for convenience I stayed here also. The hotel is not bad, it is simply aged and they are working to update and improve things. My room was quite nice, as were our conference facilities, but another of my associate's room had not been updated. Overall it was a good place to stay, especially for the price. It was much cheaper than other downtown hotels.

So I was on a work-related trip with five other colleagues, and we (sadly!) cancelled our hotel reservations when our flight out was so delayed that we decided to make the trip on the road instead. When we called back a few hours later, our rooms were gone -- and we didn't realize that a huge organization was having an annual meeting in downtown Cincinnati. Several phone calls later yielded precisely one option for five hotel rooms for that night: The Millennium Hotel Cincinnati.

We rolled in at 3 am, and were promptly greeted by a reception desk attendant who was inexplicably engrossed in her computer screen and muttered vague phrases under her breath about not being able to check us in quickly. Nearly 10 minutes later, she started to check us in -- never bothering to explain why we stood there in their down-at-the-heels lobby while she effectively ignored us for so long. (When asked, she explained that the computer was running end-of-day routines and locked her out until they were done -- clearly a fine explanation. But she didn't bother to actually TELL us that until prompted -- which gives you a general feel for the level of customer service offered by this fine establishment.)

We got five (small) rooms with double beds. The AC worked fine. Stains on the carpets, loose bathroom fixtures, adequately comfortable mattress and pillows. Crashed and slept for a few hours before getting ready for our client meetings that day.

The breakfast buffet offered no hot options & not a particularly good selection; the wait staff were okay, though the two them weren't terribly capable in keeping up with the workload imposed by five tables with no more than 9 guests in total.

The hotel decor is decades out of style, the facility has clearly seen better days and has aged unattractively after apparent decades of moderate neglect (or at least insufficient maintenance and upkeep).

The kicker? Perhaps because every other hotel was booked (or because they think their downtown location merits this), we shelled out $300 a night. That's easily double -- if not more than triple -- what t was worth.

Thankfully, we were back at a Marriott that night, and for the rest of our trip.

Won't be going back. Unless there are absolutely no other options.

In their defense, they did have an outdoor pool on the 4th floor that looked pretty nice.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel.

Pictures of the hotel look great on the website. However the hotel is dated. The rooms have been updated slightly but nothing that you would expect from a Millennium Hotel. In addition there is construction of a new building going on next to the hotel. We were not informed of this and the workers stated at 6:15am, not an ideal wakeup call! Location is central to downtown and an easy walk to most areas. I will not be staying at this hotel on our next trip to Cincinnati.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the construction side of the building.

Just spent a couple of nights at the Millennium Hotel in downtown Cincinnati. Wonderful location! It's within walking distance from many restaurants, Fountain Square, Theatre. I named my own price on Priceline and this was the hotel that accepted my offer. We appreciate that and would stay there again. We didn't eat in the restaurant, but we did enjoy the pool area and grill- hamburger was good and everything was reasonably priced. Our first night- Gary, in valet, was very helpful and made many suggestions. I would stay there again!

Unfortunately, The Millennium Hotel has fell into disrepair and the company is not going to invest in fixing it. Sooooo many problems: First our door wouldn't shut, then when it did we were jammed in our room and had to have help getting out. WiFi didn't work both nights and hotel staff did not know why. Our tv remote was broken, two lamps in the room had no bulbs and our a/c went out (someone came up and fixed that after repeated ). Then the shower just trickled out, no hot water either. So we asked to be moved and were told they did not have any other rooms, so just deal with it for two nights. Final straw valet lost our keys, took over an hour to find them - Then they charged ud full price for two night's valet!! Horrible hotel, horrible customer service. Needless to say, we're never coming back!!!
