Description: Bazin's on Church offers a contemporary American menu featuring organic and seasonal ingredients. The wine bar features a collection of wonderful wines from around the world, with an emphasis on California. Bazin's recently received the 2014 Wine Spectator Award for Excellence. We have over 400 wines to choose from. Upon being diagnosed with Celiac Disease several years ago, Chef and Owner Patrick Bazin has created an entire gluten-free dining menu. Rather than modifying current dishes to meet dietary restrictions he has created fresh and innovative dishes to please everyone's palate. Whether you too have to modify your diet or just choose to follow the gluten free lifestyle you'll enjoy these changes to our menu.

My wife and I recently hosted a friend at Bazin's and we had a terrific lunch. The restaurant is elegantly rustic and very inviting. The tables are sufficiently apart to permit conversation without straining one's voice or ears. The wait staff is friendly, knowledgable and attentive without being intrusive. The wine list is very impressive and carries a wide variety of domestic wines, French wines at reasonable prices both by the glass and bottle. The food is excellent and the menu offers so many delicious choices, it is hard to decide. I enjoyed the appetizer salad and the hamburger was cooked to perfection and wonderful. I believe that Bazin's is the finest restaurant in Vienna and is among the top five in Fairfax County. Bravo!

Vienna is fortunate to have some wonderful restaurants, and Bazin's on Church is one of them. The menu offers enough variety to satisfy most palates. And the food is good. I emphasize this because I have been to so many restaurants where the food ranges from passable to plain awful. So to find an establishment like Bazin's that offers quality food at reasonable prices is like hitting pay dirt. The atmosphere is understated classy. You will see plenty of business folks, ladies meeting for lunch and I imagine a number of regulars. Reservations are recommended, as this is a popular restaurant. There is an underground garage as well as some parking nearby. You will find that the service is top notch at Bazin's. This is a place that clearly values its customers and treats them accordingly. Definitely worth trying if you've never been here. Maybe start with lunch in order to avoid the daunting weekday rush hour. Even if you have to deal with a bit of traffic, Bazin's is worth the trip.

Have eaten at Bazins on several occasions. The newer upscale Mexican addition is delightful; not your everyday refried beans, etc., but innovative dishes that are well-prepared. Service is great, ambiance is busy and energetic. Original Bazins is elegant, food is well prepared, good drinks and great service.

We went to Bazin’s for the first time because one of our party has celiac disease and the chef/owner also has it and offers a wide gluten-free-menu. Our appetizers, a lobster and crab salad, and a ceviche-like cocktail of shrimp and scallop were very good.

Among the entrees, the winner was the duck breast. The generous portion was mote tender than the usual preparation, and the tamari-honey marinade did not make the dish overly sweet. The short ribs themselves were average; their accompaniments had a variety of disjoint tastes, including roasted carrots that tasted slightly pickled. The biggest disappointment was the Chilean sea bass. A small square of the delicate fish was placed atop mashed potatoes that had so much wasabi that the fish was overpowered.

Among the desserts the crème brulee had a wonderful filling, but it had apparently been in the refrigerator too long, because the crust was cool even though our server insisted it had been just scorched. She was attentive and efficient. The decor is upscale bistro. The noise level was high; conversation was difficult but not impossible.

To someone who must eat gluten-free, this restaurant must seem like an oasis in a desert. However, I felt that the chef tries too hard to be unique (as in the unfortunate pairing of Chilean sea bass and wasabi), and I might not return on my own.

Bazin's has fancy menus with prices that omit the decimal point, and a book-length wine-list, but it's not that special.

I had a steak with garlic fries. The steak was cooked correctly and tasted fine, but the presentation and quality was basically comparable to Outback, only much more expensive. The key lime pie was disappointing - not creamy enough in texture. The service was friendly, but the server was not that attentive and the staff was less than most high-end restaurants have.

It's a nice restaurant, but I expected more than just a run-of-the-mill dining experience for the prices charged.
