“Finger Lakes Wine Country”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

Clarence Hotel is a boutique hotel located in the heart of the Finger Lakes. There are a ton of wineries all within driving distance from the hotel with great outlet shopping 10 minutes away. My suggestion is to ask the locals at the lobby bar where their favorite restaurants are and they will be happy to share. We started going to Seneca Falls about 5 years ago and have met up with friends there we met at the lobby bar. We simply asked them where to eat and they suggested a couple of places, we then asked them to join us and we've been meeting up every year since.

Really wanted to like this one more. Some clever design of older hotel on cheap ..front desk kinda thrown together in high school shop class ,but overall nice rehab for very little bucks .Tho bathrooms nicely redone , excellent bed.

Okay cons ... Staff was just okay , evening desk clerk tried , Am not so much...seemed put out.
But worse was restaurant we seated at 830 ,so not at closing but only one other table usually sign to run should have, food pricey ,server just wanted go home we felt rushed and she was bored ..For $ 200 for four really silly.
Would've stay again ? Just need room in great old hotel ,probably do again, but would look around ,got be something better.
Still some clever on cheap renovating ideas..one we liked was older bathroom window was milked on bottom half and than left clear on top to let in light at top .No bathroom window treatment needed ? Clever right?
Well not really my wife went down to parking lot and looked back to locate our bathroom window ..Room above us lady was very exposed in her bra ,clearly visible and room over man standing toilets..Clever idea just didn't quite work kinda like Clarence Hotel ..

It isn't often we are pleasantly surprised when it comes to anything service-related, but our stay at the Hotel Clarence was just that! From check in, to the room, to the complimentary breakfast, it was all enjoyable. The Hotel Clarence is in the heart of Seneca Falls, within walking distance to mostly everything. The room was very nicely decorated, with hardwood floors. We had a room on the 3rd floor - there is an elevator that is a little bit slow but it's not a big deal. The bathroom was a good size and very clean. The view from our room was nice, looking over the town. Breakfast was pretty much as expected (fruit, various muffins, coffee, juice, cereal etc.) and the dining room is also decorated well. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone in the area!

This hotel is on a corner in the middle of Seneca Falls, a nice little town, and the hotel appears recently remodeled; looks nice on the front -- but was still being re-painted on the exterior. Bar and food at the bar/restaurant were very good. There was a wine tasting in the lobby with hors d'oeuvres while we were there. We were given a back corner room on the third floor. The room decor was very modern; bare "hardwood" floors, tiled bathroom, sleek lines with no frills, grey/mauve/b&w color scheme. Stationary glass half/door on the walk-in shower was designed to take the place of a shower curtain, but the water went thru the bottom space and ran out onto the floor. We were annoyed that the room wasn't comfortable to sit, such as to watch the tv, except for lying in the bed. The only chair in the room was the little desk chair, and that or a windowsill were the only seats in the room; the bed was very high off the floor and not suitable for sitting on. The room was very clean, however. Our only other major complaint was that in the AM, as we were packing up to check out (an hour before checkout time,) my husband was using the bathroom when a man painting the building in a crane-lift outside his window came into view, and was working around the window! The windows were opaque on the lower half, but transparent on the top half, and of course, the worker could easily see in! My husband was extremely upset. Thankfully we weren't late risers and just getting showered! The hotel definitely knew where the painting work would be taking place in the AM, and should have been more diligent about not placing people in those rooms.

We were returning from our Canadian trip through Niagara Falls and looking for a place to spend the night before returning home to Connecticut. We were checking reviews for the Hotel Clarence and decided to stay there. It was a great decision. It is a beautiful, remodeled old hotel in downtown Seneca Falls with a fabulous restaurant. Our room was very clean and very modern, but with a chandelier that harkened back to it's turn of the century heritage. We've done a lot of travelling over the past few years and this place had the best WiFi of any of our recent stays. We have to mention the restaurant. The menu was great and the selections were excellent. The service was very good and the bar was very busy. Hopefully we can find a business or personal reason to visit this area again and find a reason to stay at this wonderful place again.

The Clarence is a 100 year old hotel made over with an ultra modern interior. we had a nice suite on the third floor which was just above the street noise. The king size bed was new , and we slept soundly. The small bar area was cozy and the restaurant staff was friendly and the food good. The rooms are B&B style with a continental breakfast served as part of the deal which added to the value of the saty. The hotel is right next to the Woman's sufferage national park and near a niced walking trail in this quaint, historic village.

Seneca Falls was the last stop on our Erie Canal bike trip. What a surprise to find such a modern and hip hotel in the midst of a old canal town. The room was chic and had the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in in a hotel. Loved the chandelier in the room as well as the clean, functional bathroom. The restaurant was excellent and the bar was very nice. I would definitely stay here again.
