“Great breakfast, beautiful setting”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

After a two-night stay at John Morris Manor, we'd recommend it for a laid-back getaway in a very scenic area. The grounds are beautiful and the house has a rustic charm. Tony and John are great hosts and not at all intrusive. It's quite close to the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge, so it's an ideal place to stay if you're hoping to get a glimpse of a sandhill crane or cerulean warbler--in fact, we saw over twenty species of birds just while relaxing on the porch. Two adorable dogs will greet you exuberantly on your arrival, and it was overall a great place for dog-lovers, though probably not a good choice if you are NOT a dog-lover. And finally, the breakfast was really outstanding.

To start, we are an engaged couple in our late 20s/early 30s from NYC. We vacation to wine country frequently with our dog, but typically stay in hotels, since it's usually easier to find dog-friendly hotels. We have only booked stays at B&Bs about a dozen times. We tend to reserve them for special occasions.

We would 100% stay at the John Morris Manor again. The property and the house are in beautiful shape. We were looking for quiet seclusion, coming from NYC, and that's what we found. We also wanted easy access to Finger Lake wineries, and that's what we got.

The best part of the John Morris Manor are the owners. John and Tony are wonderful. They are warm, welcoming and go over the top to make your stay memorable. Tony cooked us a LUXURIOUS breakfast every morning. Course after course, you could tell he LOVES this part of his job! We would sit chatting with Tony for an hour once we were done with breakfast.

Tony is a wonderful storyteller and is never intrusive. But if you are looking to be left alone, this might not be the place for you. But then again, if you are looking to be left alone, you shouldn't be staying at a B&B! haha

Since the house is not close to the main road, we felt very safe having our dog off leash in the yard. One of the only issues we had at the B&B was that one of the house dogs didn't seem to like our dog very much and would bark at her, so we had to keep a closer eye on the dogs than we would have liked. But it didn't ruin our time there one bit. It was also great that they allowed us to keep the dog in the room while we were out at day. A lot of B&Bs don't allow that.

There are some restaurants nearby as well for dinner. It's about a 5 minute drive to a great area with restaurants/bars for some nightlife activity. Not a TON of options, but we were only there for a few days, so no chance to get bored. But I can see them getting repetitive if we were there for a whole week.

All in all, we had a wonderful few days of fantastic breakfast, wine tastings all day, and then relaxing quiet nights in playing board games. A great retreat from the craziness of the city! We'll be back! Thanks John and Tony!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Yellow room which is one of the dog friendly rooms in the B&B. To get to the ro...

We stayed two nights at the John Morris B&B in February, 2014. We were looking for a clean, quiet accommodation, that was both romantic and pet friendly for our two pups. Tony and John were hospitable and helpful. The food was AMAZING! Tony gifted us with little "extras", such as a bottle of delightful champagne and the most delicious chocolate chip cookies, that were strategically placed in the kitchen entranceway. Upon our departure, Tony assisted us in locating wineries that offered wines to match our tastes. We will definitely return!

Room Tip: Yellow room is best if you have two pets.

We booked the John Morris Manor B&B as we were looking for pet friendly accommodation in the Seneca Falls area for the weekend. Tony was extremely helpful on the phone advising us which of the 2 pet friendly rooms to book based on the size of our dog.
The John Morris Manor B&B is easy to find as there is a large sign at the bottom of the driveway and the only streetlight if you arriving at night!
Tony and John could not have been more friendly and welcoming. When we arrived were treated to a full tour of the property and amenities. Of note there is a large parlor with cable TV, lots of books and magazines for the guests to relax in. Outside there is a fire pit & outdoor seating along with a pool, which was unfortunately not available due to the sub zero temperatures! The kitchen has a large fridge which is for guests to use.
We were booked into the Yellow Room which was at the back of the property and was immaculate with a very comfortable bed and a couple of arm chairs to relax in after your day's excursions.
Breakfast was superb on both days, every item freshly and lovingly prepared by Tony. The Apple French Toast was particularly delicious and having enjoyed the plentiful fayre it will be a fair while before you need to eat again.
Would we stay again.......YOU BET.

Room Tip: If you have a big dog pick the Yellow Room if you have a smaller dog pick the Red Room.

Over Columbus Day had a weekend get-away to the Finger Lakes. This B&B is very conveniently located near Seneca Falls. It's a well-maintained establishment, reasonably priced, quiet, and very convenient for sight-seeing in the area, or visiting the many local vineyards. The proprietors were very helpful and pleasant. I stayed in the Yellow Room, which has nicely appointed and had its own bath. WiFi was also available throughout the house and worked quite well. Also, breakfast both mornings was great and included multiple courses.

We stayed at the John Morris Manor and couple weeks ago. It was our second time visiting the area and our second time staying at the B & B. Tony, the owner is very helpful and friendly. We were visiting my daughter in the area and each day, she came right in the house and visited with us in the parlor. Tony is a fabulous host. The breakfasts are amazing and very filling. Tony enjoys the company of his guests. Our breakfasts (both times we stayed) were a fun and social event. We thoroughly enjoyed the other guests and Tony made us all feel like old friends. We look forward to staying again.

Spent two days as guests of Tony and John. The facility is tastefully decorated and so quiet. Tony is an excellent cook and the breakfasts are memorable. If you're looking for a special time away, this is your place.
