There were four of us that went as a group (on a motorcycle tour) and decided to stay here. The property is a bit old but very quaint, homey, and decorated beautifully. I stayed in the Pool Room and it was nice, though there are no dressers, limited closet space, & the window unit A/C unit is in the bathroom window. Tony cooked us an absolutely delicious breakfast each and every morning, which kept us full until dinner. Tony is gracious, funny, helpful, and engaging.

The B&B is supposed to be non-smoking but the proprietors smoke. They do so on a semi enclosed porch but you can smell the smoke throughout the first floor. Breakfast is no choice. It is whatever the proprietor makes. If he makes a frittata that is it. If you happen to not like it you go without breakfast. Not even cereal or a muffin. Our room had a narrow ante room and the bedroom. The ac was in the ante room so we had to leave the door open and a fan on to get any ac. Water pressure for the shower was lousy. You do not get a key so you can not lock up your things when you leave. Beautiful property. Nice house. No TV in your room. The proprietors were friendly. But if you are at the least picky about food, care about securing your things or any of the things I mentioned maybe this isn't your place. Admittedly this is the first B&B we have ever stayed at.

Room Tip: Some rooms have private bathrooms, some do not.

Hi there! I really appreciate you taking the time to speak up about what was a little off-putting to you while you were here. We want people to feel comfortable, and well taken care of, so if that means finding a different spot to enjoy a cigarette, that is no problem at all. In the future, we will be more conscientious of our guest’s preferences.

Additionally, I think that there might’ve been some confusion on breakfast, and I would like to apologize. Each morning, we offer juice, waffles, muffins, and a main egg dish. Did we skip over the other items while you were here? If so, let me know.

As a 1836 Greek revival farmhouse, the wood-working and high ceilings are unbeatable, but with that comes some drawbacks as far as utilities go. With that said, we will continue to ensure that everything is working in proper order.

Thank you again for offering some helpful criticism. We’re happy to have been your first bed and breakfast, and we hope that we’re not your last. Please know that you're always welcome back!

Warmest regards,

John Personius, Innkeeper

My husband, our 9 month old baby and I stayed at John Morris Manor B&B for 3 nights in July and had a lovely time! It's very close to a number of wineries, easy to get to the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge, a few minutes from the Women's Rights National Historic Park, and a short drive down to Ithaca and the Taughannock Falls (a must see!). Another reviewer said "bring your appetite," and they were spot on. Breakfast was always a 2 course affair…one plate sweet, one plate savory - we didn't need to eat again until the late afternoon. Tony and John were welcoming, fun to talk with, and were wonderfully accommodating. Our room (The Rose Room) was lovely and very clean and the AC worked quite nicely (a big plus in my book). There was room for our pack-n-play too. We shared a bathroom with another room, but never had an issue with availability. A great trip!

It's not a B&B without breakfast, and Tony definitely loves to make a big breakfast! I'm so happy that we could make your family's stay a comfortable one. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip and make sure you stop by the next time you are in town.

We stayed in the Pool Room with on suite bathroom with Jacuzzi. Tony greeted us at the door and was really exceptional. We had made a mistake in our reservation and was a week late. Luckily for us, the room was available on the one night and he fit us into the schedule with no surcharges for our error.

The breakfast is exquisite and certainly a great way to start your day.

Though I am not a fan of dogs, the dogs onsight were respectful and don't jump on you. I appreciated that a lot. You can tell Tony is really particular about the treatment of guests and it is clearly evident.

Would definitely return in the future.

We stayed here from Saturday to Tuesday. I found the hosts to be very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Owner Tony, with an obvious passion and love for cooking made huge breakfasts each morning. The first morning (Sunday) we had an egg strata loaded with fresh vegetables, eggs and cheese. He gave us portions that filled the whole plate. The next morning we had homemade Belgian waffles with whipped cream and homemade strawberry sauce for the first course. The second course was an egg casserole, very airy and delicious, and turkey sausage. The third morning we had rum French toast for the first course, followed by an egg souflet with feta cheese and a side of bacon. The breakfasts filled us up all day. Breakfast is served promptly at 8:30 but Tony did mention that he can be flexible with advanced noticed. The dining room was elegantly set each morning with fancy china place settings, crystal pictures for juices, elegant glasses. Coffee and juice are self-served. In late afternoon, Tony bakes from scratch chocolate chip cookies. The cookies he made were huge and he leaves a platter of them out on the kitchen counter for guests to help themselves.

The house is set back from the road on top of a hill on about 5 acres. Grounds are very pretty, with brilliant flower gardens lining the entrance way to the home and around the in-ground pool. The pool area is very pretty with lots of tables and umbrellas on the patio. Each night after coming back from dinner we would sit out by the pool for a couple of hours.

The house itself is a large home from the 1800s. It has 5 guest rooms, two of the rooms share a bathroom. We stayed in the Jetson Room, the one with the space ship wallpaper. Room is the smallest in the house but was roomy enough for the two of us. It has a spacious private bath with skylight, shower/tub, large vanity sink and toilet. What I found odd was that there was no place in the room to put away our clothes. A large bureau in the corner was full of extra blankets and sheets. The only closet area was a small rod that was in the corner of the bathroom. The room is carpeted...looks like the same carpet from the 1960s and definitely had an odor to it. The wallpaper was old as well with various water stains throughout. The bed was two twin beds put together to make a larger bed. The bed was spacious and the sheets were high quality satin which were very comfortable. They also provided a lot of pillows, which is a plus. Towels are limited and there is a note in the information book that says towels will only be replaced if you are staying more than 3 days. Same for the sheets. The room was in the attic in the back of the house and quiet for the most part, with the exception of hearing the guests below us in the pool room, not their voices but the vibration on the floor when they walked around. The Yellow Room is next door and was empty two out of the three nights we were there. The room had a small Christmas tree which was decorated with old space ornaments and lights. We used this as our night light.

The layout of the house is a bit odd. Since we were upstairs in the attic, every time we left or returned to our room we had to walk through the owners' living room as they were watching tv and past their small screened in porch which they use as their smoking room. The smell of smoke was prevalent throughout the main level.

The house is not really near any restaurants or shops and it is not in walking distance to anything, but as I said it is a nice setting. The village of Seneca Falls is about 5 miles away.

We were up in the Finger Lakes to do biking and just relax a bit, which we were able to do. The hosts were very gracious and friendly and we did have a nice stay, enjoyed the breakfasts and the treats. The dogs are very friendly.

What a thoughtful and detailed review! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this. It sounds like you had a rather comfortable stay with us and really enjoyed Tony's breakfast. I'll be sure to pass the kudos along -- he'll be delighted.

Your suggestion for additional storage space in the Jetson room is a good one, and it's something I'll be sure to keep it in mind for the future. Our house was made in 1836, and so the layout is a little interesting, but we hope that this didn't inconvenience you in anyway.

Should you ever take a trip out to our part of the country again, please keep us in mind!

Sincerely,

John Personius, Innkeeper

This is our fourth time back to this wonderful B&B situated at the north end of Cayuga lake in the beautiful Finger Lakes region. We recently stayed here late July 2014.

This B&B is owned by 2 fabulous gentlemen, Tony and John and their 2 friendly pets, Bear and Bender :)

We love this B&B because of the location at the top of Cayuga Lake but most importantly the way the owners make us feel like extended family. It feels like coming home everytime we visit.

The B&B is up for sale and it saddens me that at some point when we visit the region that Tony& John will not be there to give us a hug and feed us unbelievable breakfasts....

This was a very last minute trip and we only gave them a days notice but they were able to accommodate us for our 2 nights stay. We had to change rooms after the first night and John extended us a 15% discount for this. Very nice of him as he didn't need to do that . But well appreciated.

John recommended a great restaurant in the area called Suzannes and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you John!

If you need a place to stay in the Finger Lakes area, LOVE good food and want to enjoy a relaxing stay then this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Yellow room is the best for pets and the pool room is the best for a romantic stay

Tony and John were very accommodating and helpful during our week long stay with our dog in tow. The pool was clean and inviting. Interaction with all the other guests was very positive. Each morning we had a very tasty, substantial breakfast before we went on our day trips. Conversation with all was a plus! Would recommend highly. And if we ever again visit the Finger Lakes area we will be sure to stay here.

Room Tip: If you have a dog ask for the yellow room up the back stairs with its own entrance.
