“Pretty--hard to see if it's raining!”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

So, if it's raining, set your expectations... the steam from this spring hots the cold air and everything turns gray and misty. We walked the entire boardwalk and really couldn't see anything. The walk was pleasant and easy, so definitely visit here on a sunny day because it must be spectacular. Parking here was one of the hardest places to park in Yellowstone. It's just a crowded place.

“Unbelievably, it is natural!”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

The Grand Prismatic Spring, in my opinion, is the most incredible feature at Yellowstone. We did not realise at the time that there is a trail to see the spring from above, but even so, it is easy to get a sense of the colours, steam and sheer scale of this wonder.

“Beautiful and not of this world”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Grand Prismatic Spring is the most beautiful natural feature in Yellowstone, but only if you hike up the hill just to the west of it off the Fairy Falls Trail (parking lot for this trailhead is tiny so be patient). The short, steep hike up the unmarked trail is more than worth it. The colors of this spring are not of this world. You will get your own photo (as long as the steam cooperates) similar to the aerial photo made famous on the National Geographic cover a few years ago. I still can't believe how beautiful it really is in person.

“Other worldly”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

The Grand Prismatic Spring was merely the most mesmerizing of all the many extraordinary geothermals at Yellowstone.

“Very cool!”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

I was slightly disappointed that this didn't look much like the pictures, but then found out afterwards that there is a trail (to Fairy Falls) that allows you to view it from above. Wish we would have known that while we were there! This was still an awesome sight, and our family enjoyed the boardwalk that wound through all of the thermal features in this area.
