Nice hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Free coffee in lobby every morning. Room clean but a little musty smelling. Bath in room nice size. Quite dated but very clean. Think 1939! Ball and claw tub with draw around shower curtain.
Young male elks and females with calf's all around. We had room 117 which is first floor. Elk right outside window every day! I mean close. 15-30 feet most of time. Busy during day but peaceful at night after crowds leave the hot spring terraces. Down side is long drives to see rest of park.

Room Tip: Room 117. Elk right outside window every day.

Green Features: Very good. Three bins in room to separate everything.

Do not assume you can get hot spring. It's never open.

Hotel is outdated, heavy noise from corridor.

Restroom is not clean, very humid, space very limited and not comfortable.

Old faithful would be a much better chose.

We stayed in the Mammoth Hot Springs Cabin with a private bath. The bedding was nice (much nicer than that at Old Faithful Inn and Lake Lodge Cabins). The bathroom was tiny, but functional. Sink was outside of the bathroom. We loved the front porch with two chairs and a table and being able to view the hot springs and watch the kids and marmots play on the grass. Great price for a great location!

Room Tip: Cabin A33 has a view of the hot springs and shaded porch in the evening.

We had a very nice time. While the hotel is certainly dated, it was clean and comfortable. However, due partly to it's age, the halls were noisy from other guests coming in late and leaving early. It is also convenient to the restaurant and grill across the street and there's a store nearby. There's also an abundance of elk in the area, grazing on the lawn and in the meadow across the road. However, the elk can be aggressive in the spring and early summer during calving season.

Room Tip: If you can get on an upper floor, it may be quieter. We had noise in the rooms above us and in the...

I have never given a poor review, because I try very hard to avoid places that deserve it. Well this one was my fault, my wife had chosen a lodge in Gardner just 5 miles away, but when I looked at the map, I said, why don't we stay in the park. I regret that now. The room was very warm, and Lake Yellowstone was still frozen over and covered with snow. The heat was not on, the room was just warm so we had to run the fan provided and open the window. In the bathroom, there was one TINY glass shelf and half of that was taken up by bottles of hand soap and lotion, bolted to the wall.
No TV, that's fine, but wifi is an extra charge. If you do not bring your own plug strip forget charging your laptop, iPad or phones as there is only two plugs available. Normally I would have rated this place "Average", but the quality of breakfast knocked it down a grade. The one thing that saved it from "Terrible", is their high quality staff in every position. If not for the location and lack of competition, this place would have to close.

Room Tip: If your room number is high, put on your walking shoes as the elevator is in the front and room #28...

Green Features: Being in a government controlled area, they are overboard in the enviro area at the expense of comfort and convenience.

This lodge is my favorite of the lodges found in Yellowstone national park. Mammoth is quite, out of the way and beautiful. The lack of TV's and internet really let you escape from the world and just relax. Compared to the rest of the park Mammoth is quite with few people around compared to say Old Faithful aria. You will never run out of things to do at Mammoth ether, there are trails all around the hotel, as well as wildlife spotting tours on top of great access to the rest of the park. Over all if you want a beautiful, quite, escape from society feel then Mammoth lodge is for you.

Room Tip: Try and get a room that if facing the front of the hotel for a better view Also rooms higher up are...

Now that our daughters are adults, they don't want to stay in the parents' room. Xanterra has taken the duplex cabins and turned them into family units, with one room having a queen bed, and the other with two doubles...perfect. Cabin was clean and comfortable, and was recently painted. Love to sit on porch in the evening and listen to the quiet!
