“Very Nice Park Hotel”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

We stayed at the Mammoth Hot Springs Lodge for first nite in Yellowstone. The grounds are very scenic and just up the road from the Upper and Lower Terraces. Check-in was easy and the staff were ALL friendly and helpful, in our case helping us revise our reservations for the remainder of the week. The lodge rooms were good sized (ours had a private bathroom shower) and very clean, but be aware they are pretty spartan, with no A/C and no TV. Food services are clean and good meals. Also, As of June 2014 there is road construction on the road from Madison, with two 20-30 minute construction delays; the road to Madison closes sometime in the evening.

Comfortable rooms, ours overlooked the lawns with grazing elk in the morning and a ground squirrel family below the window. Large dining room and bar in another building close by, nicely decorated, good atmosphere and we enjoyed our dinners and breakfasts there. Plenty of parking and we left our car there for 6 days while we toured Yellowstone with no problems. Unlike the Old Faithful area there are no springs or geysers within easy walking distance but you have good road access to Lamar and Hayden Valleys which are great for wildlife.

Room Tip: Our second floor room and pleasant views and good acces by stairs or elevator.

Green Features: It's in Yellowstone National Park and obviously environmentally friendly.

Booked this room 1 year in advance and so glad we did. The room is just your basic room bed, bathroom and sink. But honestly we didn't to Yellowstone for room accommodations. We came for the scenery and we had that outside our window. First day we had a herd of elk enjoying the grass area right by our window. The hotel was clean and staff was very helpful. One thing we did learn is that just outside the north entrance there is a town with food and many activities to try. Be sure and try the huckleberry ice cream!

Stayed one night before moving to central Yellowstone.
Had one of the cabins at the back of the hotel, and it was functional and clean.
It had a queen bed smallish bathroom, every thig worked but had no modern amenities such as tv, wifi etc, but it served its purpose and had no complaints, on the way back from our evening meal 6 elk had started roaming the site and very quickly security arrived to ensure they were not disturbed.
Would visit again

We had a room on the 4th floor and it had a beautiful view of grazing elk in the yard. The elevator was swift.. The beds were comfy and very clean. The communal bathroom was totally fine. The hallways were very wide and the rooms were quieter than I expected.

Stayed in an individual cabin behind the main hotel and was glad we selected this vs. the hotel. It gave more a flavor of being at a special place, and Mammoth Hot Springs in yellowstone national park is special. We were in Cabin #A36.....basically they are all the same, except some are duplexes, good for families or couples traveling together. I like the individual cabins and particularly the ones facing greenbelt in a circle - they exist in both A, B and C loops. They are small and a bit cramped because they put two queen beds in them....if there had been any available with one king or even one queen bed, it would have been perfectly sized. These cabins have been redone, they are not rustic. You have small showers, toilets and a sink area - the quaintness comes with the deck veranda each has with two chairs and a end table on it. Great for watching kids play soccer, or people reading, drinking a glass of wine at night. What was spectacular was the evening we were there of July 3 there was a fantastic lightening show with thunder and eventually a downpour of rain. Though when we woke up at 8am the next morning, you couldn't tell that it rained,....it soaks right into the ground. Beautiful hiking a terrific dinning room and grill there. Loved the visitors center too. And the assistant hotel manager, Cindy, was so delightful.

Room Tip: Stay in a cabin. Go check them out and make a note of several you'd prefer. Or research what o...

Close to Mammoth Hot Springs, Lamar Valley. The 1 queen bed lodge room has a nice more than a decent size room, clean and old style tub. Our group spent 1 night in room and frontier cabin Cabins were also nice size and views are good. Definitely can be considered for one night stay in this area to cover the HOT Springs, Lamar Valley, Tower falls.
