We visited the park in September and had planned to get to Hayden Valley to see the sunrise and hopefully see some wolves. We pulled into Grizzly Overlook which is a fabulous pull out S of Alum Creek and there were already a few cars parked in the twilight hours so I recommend you get there early if you are wanting to be there during the morning hours as it was full by 30 minutes past sunrise. We walked across the street and headed up a hill where some wolf watchers were and waited for sunrise and looked for wildlife. Some of the nice folks on the hill informed us they heard wolves earlier in the morning but we never saw them that day. We were rewarded with a spectacular sunrise that peeked in and out of layers of fog in the valley and lots of bison of course. As we drove through the rest of the valley throughout the rest of the day we appreciated the scenery around the river and all the birds in the area as well. Would recommend and agree with others that sunrise and sunset are best.
