This is our third time we have stayed at the Yosemite West High Sierra B&B. The location is convenient to all the areas where we like to hike, no wait to enter and exit the park each day, and it's away from the crowds and heat of Yosemite Valley. The rooms are clean, comfortable and it is tastefully decorated; we feel at home as soon as we walk in the door.
Yosemite is our favorite national park. Being from the east coast, we were surprised that it is so big. We look forward to exploring new areas during each visit. Karen and her daughters are spot on with their suggestions for hiking, dining, swimming, etc. There is a large selection of maps and books on Yosemite National Park.
It's easy to get an early start since breakfast is served beginning at 8 a.m.; we are always out before 9 a.m. If we want an earlier start, we simply help ourselves to cereal, fruit and coffee. We prefer to pack a lunch so having access to a refrigerator keeps us from having to wait in lines each day; we enjoy picnic lunches during our hikes.
We usually have dinner at Yosemite Lodge or the Wawona Hotel before heading back to the B&B for a relaxing sunset on the deck.
Cell service is spotty throughout the park. Our cell phone, e-mail, voice and texting worked (Verizon) in the house and we could surf the web from the B&B parking area most of the time. Some guests had no cell service at all in the park. Internet in the B&B is satellite. Can't wait to return!
