“Not enough time in Yosemite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for only 1 night. Too bad!!! We had a very clean, updated room at The Lodge at Yosemite Falls. I really like the dispensers both in the shower and near the bathroom sink. We stayed in an upstairs room with a balcony and were able to keep our sliding glass door open all night. Then sat on the balcony for breakfast. Be warned that if you go in summer there is no AC, but who would spend any time in their room during the day anyway? You're in Yosemite, stunningly beautiful!!!

It's a very nice lodge, but only part of it has been upgraded. Upstairs rooms are VERY hot in the summer and the only form of cooling is by fans. The lodge does not have AC making it a bit uncomfortable. The WiFi is free, but not reliable at all so don't try streaming anything. Walls are a bit thin so hope you don't have very loud neighbors. The pool was beautiful, warmed slightly and the location couldn't have been more central to the main features in Yosemite. The cafeteria has a lot of options for meals but expect to shell out a VERY pretty penny for your meals. We packed food and ate there only for dinner. My preference is the bar...it serves better food and is a little quieter and less busy than the main room. Staff is wonderful, very accommodating. My family had a great time, we just wish for something that took a year in advance to book for over $200/night we'd get something a little more technically updated.

Room Tip: Ask for a downstairs room with a patio, especially during the summer. It gets hot upstairs.

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting Yosemite the main reception area looks good the accommodation blocks are looking tired and in need of refurbishment. We were forced to eat in the food court which is expensive and watching the staff cook didn't fill me with confidence. Whilst ordering breakfast on first day half way through the order they stopped cooking to make a batch of scrambled eggs on the hot plate. 10 minutes later I got the rest of the order. Then at 2pm the power went due to a storm, reception I formed us it would be back on at 6 pm but 6pm came and went we managed to get a torch from reception, 9pm came and went mixed information was coming from staff however main reception area had power off the generator. We left at 9 am the following day and still had no power. What was funny, we were told to keep doors closed because if the bears and yet in the power cut all doors that were not electric were wedged open.

Came in July and it was unbearably hot with no AC or room phone. I didn't get or know about a guest pass for the pool, coffee vouchers, or a parking permit. I went back at 10pm to get a parking permit. Pool guard let me in when I went back to my car to get and show him my room key. This resort is a unfortunately a Waste of money for me as I couldn't sleep in the stifling heat. Kids upstairs jumping around early every morning. Switched rooms a couple times due to reservations and room types assigned but never experienced an improvement except having a room phone in one room. I thought the people who worked there were very nice. But I will never stay there again. I checked it out already and I will go to El Portal lodge for better accommodations AC, view, quiet, updated. It is not that far out of the way, only a pleasant and convenient drive 14 miles to the heart of the valley.

Room Tip: Downstairs away from the road.

You can't get any better location than this hotel. Stayed in the Willow building. Although the bathrooms were recently re-done, the bedroom area seemed dark and outdated for the high price we paid for the room. Although we didn't expect luxury, I expected a little better for the price.

We stayed in one of the family rooms at the lodge. It's a large "L" shaped room with a king size bed, a bunk that has a double on the bottom, and a large sectional sofa with a pull out double bed. The room was huge. It had plenty of room for us, our bikes, and all of our gear. The shower and toilet are in separate areas, which is nice when you have teenagers! The location was perfect. We were able to bike anywhere in the valley we wanted. We could walk out the back of the lodge and hike right up either of the Yosemite Falls trail heads, when finished hiking or biking, there's a nice clean shower and cozy bed. Or head over to the food court. Don't miss the bacon cheeseburger, one of the best! Also, don't miss Glacier Point, the view of Half Dome is incredible. It's a totally different perspective that can't be explained. Must see!
I'd give it 5 stars, but the rooms don't have air conditioning and we stayed during a heat wave.

The lodging was good but not as good as I expected based on the price. The room was a bit dark and not particularly newly decorated. The food at the high end restaurant was AMAZING - definitely worth the price! I would recommend staying at least 3-4 days in the park since it is quite the drive to get there and there is a lot to do. Wifi was not very good.
