“Nice and convenient, but getting a little tired. Being refurbished slowly.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2014

Great location right in the centre of the valley, so can't beat the access to all of the hikes/walks.
My booking was on a B&B rate, but the breakfast at the restaurant/canteen (!) across the road was pretty horrible.

The rooms are ok, very motel like, though much nicer. They are getting pretty tired looking in many cases, so a refurbishment does appear to be underway in some of the room blocks/buildings.

Can't beat the location and a much more reasonable price than The Ahwahnee along the road.

Room Tip: Many different room blocks - see if you can get one of the rooms in a refurbished block.

We stayed a few nights at the Lodge, which was a few nights too few.

The lodge rooms were perhaps getting a little tired, but we're all part of the charm of Yosemite, and unlike camping there, you don't have to use bear lockers.

The lodge is surrounded by wildlife. We had an upstairs room, and there were a few visitors on our balcony. ;-)

The complex is good, and there's evening events and tours that go from the Lodge, with a free shuttle bus stop there too.

The only downsides we found was that the food court was pricey for the food they served, and internet was slow but not surprising given the location and number of visitors.

Would recommend and stay again.

The room was kind of dark and the carpeting is worn and stained. The bathrooms seems to have been redone recently, but the rest of the room also needs upgrades. The room was a good size but there are not enough outlets for charging electronics, cameras, etc. Also the light switches are located at the wrong side of the room and bathroom. If you arrive after dark, you need a flashlight to locate the switches. The hotel was nice enough to lend us a power strip for that purpose. The desk staff was friendly and helpful.

We have stayed in two and three star hotels before, but not at $250 per night. This evaluation is not based on the surroundings, since Yosemite, itself, is a wow, but that does not justify below average rooms.

Room Tip: I do not know if there are any.

The rooms were nice but most of the lights didn't work and the room was already really dark. Otherwise it was a most enjoyable stay with the fabulous scenery in the wonderful park. The pool was also really good and the bike hire was amazing. I am doing a seperate review for the food court.

This was the third stop on our trip, sad no water in the falls due to drought so was a little disappointed. But the room was lovely had everything we needed including fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. We used the pool which was lovely as the weather was very hot the day we stayed. The receptionist was fantastic a young lady, was disappointed with the young man on concierge/trip desk as I told him we were only staying one day/night what was the best for us to do he just tried to sell us the moonlight trip on the bus. When we asked the young lady on reception she gave us walks close by and not too long as my husband had a walking stick. We had a very relaxing day and sat outside our room on the. evening The only one negative is we found the food court expensive as you don't really have anywhere else to go. didn't see any bears
which my 10 year old son was very grateful for. Also you do have to pay $20 to enter the park which we did not know about valid for 7 days even if you are only staying for 1.

It was so worth it to us to stay inside the park--and the Lodge was the ideal location. Really convenient to everything in the valley. Staff were kind and helpful and rooms were clean and well appointed. We had an amazing view from our room. Everything was easy--checkin, parking, cafeteria, access to tour (stargazing). Highly recommend this over Ahwahnee (more than twice the price; just go there for a meal) and places outside the park.

Clean and great location and reasonably priced, make sure you book in the early spring for a summer trip as all the lodging sells out quickly. The rooms are in about 10 different buildings, so ask for a room in one of the lodges with a view.
