“Unique Experience”

The drive to Yosemite is only outdone by the views from the trails once you get there. This campsite is perfect for exploring the park. The basics are all there. Make sure you use the food bins, as a bear ventured into the campgrounds during the night. Luckily the rangers were able to scare it off with bean bag guns. It made the camping experience, but is frightening at the time. The bathrooms were clean for a national park.

We had stopped at several National Parks on our RV trip before Yosemite, but none stacked up to this Park or the campground we stayed at. Our spot was right next to a clearing so we could see up to Half Dome during the day and straight up the stars at night, which was great for our telescope. Clean facilities for a national park site; no hookups so make sure you fill up on water and propane and dump sewer before parking. Easy walk to Curry Village for food, firewood, etc. and the bus system in the park is top notch for when the kids get tired after hikes. Will be returning to this campground in the future.

Yosemite itself is magic but the camp grounds could be better. Our camp site was number two and near the trash and recyling bins which could be noisy. The toilets are adequate considering the size of the campground but not that clean. It is a very convenient spot to catch the shuttle. The rangers are very vigilant which is good for all concerned, particularly the bears.

Room Tip: Definitely choose a spot on the outer loop because that is more private but perhaps a little more in...

This is one of our family's favorite NPs to visit. We almost always camp in Upper Pines (UP). Stay away from Camp 4 if you have kids. We bring our bikes and ride to all the sites in the valley. Parking can be frustrating in the valley so biking around makes site seeing very easy. Curry Village (CV) and the Happy Isles Nature Center are within walking distance from the campground. The CV store has almost anything you might have forgot to pack. Bike rentals are available in CV. Showers are available at the CV pool for $5 or $6 with access to the pool. The pool is very kid friendly (2-8 ft deep) and uncrowded before lunch. Swimming, rafting and throwing rocks in the Merceed River are a standard afternoon activity for our family with easy access at the entrance to UP. Camp sites are standard for NP with large bear bin (35"D,43"W,28"T), pic table and fire pit w/ flipup grill. There are no power sources except in bathrooms, so expect to hear RV generators in the evening hours. Don't pick a sight right next to a bathroom, or people will be walking through your area for water and potty day and night. Camp is wired to alert rangers when tagged bears are in the area and patrolled nightly. Squirrels are the biggest issue for spoiling food. Kids look forward to our week of camping every year. Enjoy it while they're young!

We had a good camp spot, near water and bathrooms. The campground is big, so there is alot of activity everywhere. We had a good spot, outer loop. Try to get an outer loop spot so you are not just looking at other campers. There is supposed to be a 6 person max per spot, but I don't think they enforce that as the campers next to us had at least 15 people camping there. One RV, and 4 tents??? Oh well, I would stay here again

Nice campground with fine toilets. The location near Curry Village and near a shuttle stop make it ideal for exploring the Valley. We rented bikes in Curry Village one day and hiked the Vernal Falls trail another both within short distance of the campground.

These campgrounds fill up within moments of coming available in season, because they are so wonderful. Convenient, reasonably clean restrooms, spacious sites, and quiet, except for the daily garbage trucks.
