“Evenings under the Stars”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

Really glad we chose Curry Village as our base whilst exploring the beautiful Yosemite National Park, a definite highlight of our California road trip! Great atmosphere, good food (we enjoyed the pizzas and breakfasts), a well stocked bar, comfortable raised tent cabins and a large swimming pool to relax in after one of the many hikes through the park. Staff were always friendly and helpful and the communal shower blocks were spotless (I also never had to wait for a shower even though we visited at peak time in August). Please be aware that this is a camp, and yes, it can get noisy (although quiet time is from 10pm until 6am and this was never a problem for us)! However, it is an unbeatable spot for a few nights under the stars surrounded by nature. Two tips; bring a head torch and ask for an extra blanket (or bring a sleeping bag) as the nights can be cold, even in summer..

Room Tip: Book well in advance and ask for a tent cabin near the shower block and/or swimming pool.

If you plan on hiking to any of the tops of the great landmarks or on any of the many great hiking trails, be smart and bring plenty of water, and do not bring it in the original packaging...too many first-timers are too lazy to carry out their trash and so they leave their marks upon the beauty of one of our greatest landmarks.

Stayed at one of the canvas tents for two nights, the beds were soft and very comfortable. The facilities were okay although they might be under dimensioned (ie too few). The breakfast was good and not that costly. Would love to stay here again!

We were recommended to stay here by a friend and we loved it. We were too late to book a 4-man cabin but were able to get 2 x 2-man ones next to each other. The kids loved it! Especially as we had 'bear boxes' at each cabin and there was so much nature around. Loads of squirrels, deer, a raccoon and we were lucky enough to see a bear further in the Valley.

There could be more showers (we had to wait in line each night) and they were not that clean but you have to remember you are camping and then it's fine. Very friendly staff and a good sized outdoor pool.

You can't beat this place for the ambiance!

we had a two person heated tent (needed in April), plenty of space, spotless, bonus of a light switch and room to hang/store clothes.
Showers were always clean and available (not sure in the height of the summer though), only painful factor - tiolets closed from 11-12am, madness!
Food is fine - mainly pizza and the bar area is big and friendly.good supermarket on site which also has a microwave.
Bus stops right outside which is very handy but this place is walkable to everywhere.
You will be waiting to check in but its excellent value and would definitly stay again

Room Tip: try to get a near the showers - handy for nightime!

Hey there, I thought I'd write a quick review for those non camping types like myself. I was initially very worried about booking Camp Curry as I'm not a camper.
However it was the most wonderful experience!
First tip book WELL IN ADVANCE, we booked 6 months prior to summer and got one of the last spots.
Second tip CHECK IN EARLY or as close to 4pm as possible. When we checked in at 3.30pm I was able to request a room near to the bathrooms (not too near). If you check in later the queues go back to the carpark!
Third Tip REQUEST a room near bathroom block (esp if you need to go at night).

It is more glamping than camping, as your room is canvas tent raised off the ground. There is a double/single bed inside and safe for valuables, and shelving. They provide towels (and if you ask they will supply new ones too) and bedding.
Tip: do ask for an extra blanket if you get cold easily. Even in the height of summer the evenings are chilly!
We found it a great place to stay, lots of families in the height of school holidays and summer, but it was good fun. It is like camping as you can hear everyone near you, but quiet time is after 10pm and there is a number you can call if your neighbours are noisy. (Or you can yell "Its quiet time" and they will hear!). The rangers patrol regularly to make sure quiet time is kept and will kick people out if they do not adhere. I was actually surprised at how quiet it became during those hours.
Be aware it is like a campground and there will be noise, the bathrooms are supposed to be kept clean and only a couple of times were ours a bit dirty with bits of bark from peoples thongs. Other than that they were pretty good.
This is not a hotel - its glamping - if you want to stay somewhere like a hotel try Ahwahnee Hotel which is 5 stars. But for a few nights under the stars, this is unbeatable.
Day tip: grab bikes and cycle around the valley for a day and around the campground, its lovely!

Love Curry Village but the shared public showers and toilets are a pain, so next time we'll try to book earlier so we can get a real cabin, not a tent cabin. Also a good idea to bring extra blankets or a sleeping bag, as it gets cold at night in the tent cabins, even in August. Oh, and don't expect cell service. ;)
