Owner description: Yosemite's Big Trees Golf Course has been challenging golfers since 1918. Designed to blend into the gorgeous surroundings within Yosemite National Park, this nine-hole, par-35 course measures 3,050 yards and includes two par-five holes and three par-three holes.

This course does not compete with your grand championship courses, but it is fun to play, and challenging. The fairways are narrow, with forest on either side (jail), and the greens are slow (hard to get used to). But, you'll have a great time. It's a 9 hole course, which has separate tees for playing twice in a round. You'll probably have to wait for the deer to cross, but you'll want to come back to play again and again.

The oldest golf course in the West, the only one in a National Park. Nine holes through beautiful Ponderosa forests. In fair condition June-October, but maintenance is limited by Yosemite Park regulations. Greens are small and old fashioned in design, so they're an unusual challenge. Remember it's seasonal, so on the cusps check to see that it's open.

Course is 9 holes you play from two different tees to make it 18, very relaxed and fun course, not manicured, tight fairways.

We stopped here for tea in the afternoon following a trip to Mariposa Grove. The clubhouse is really pretty and prices were reasonable.

OK, so you don't come to Yosemite to golf. But if you have the urge, this is the only game in town. A historic 9 hole course set up before the park became a park and kept because it was historic, this course is nice looking but lacks the basics of even a decent muni. The greens are really squishy and are kept long...kind of like putting on fringe. The greens are also very small. Playing for the first time, you have trouble knowing where to hit the ball. For those with high handicaps, bring a few extra balls as it plays tight and the balls off the fairway will get lost. The scenery is nice and some of the holes have a nice look. But the course has not been updated since it was built (or so it seems). This all being said, take what I have said and go have fun playing it as it is special. It will take you 50 minutes to get there from the Yosemite Valley so I recommend golfing early in the morning (8am opening) to avoid traffic.
