If you are planning to visit Yosemite this house is a long curvy drive to Yosemite Village. The septic tank needs to be pumped unable to sit outside for coffee or in the evening due to the sewer stench. We left one day earlier than booked due to the smell. Sink in one of the bathrooms does not work. Will never rent this house not well maintained.

Management Response
3 Oct 2017
This response is in regards to Maria’s review of our property in the Yosemite National Park Area.
Upon meeting these four older women, they made it clear they were on a road trip from New Mexico and were looking forward to visiting many monuments and points of interest along their way. They had an itinerary and what I figured to be a very full one as I’m more than familiar with the State and these distances they were going to be traveling.
Her first comments bore this out to be true. Long winding roads to get to Yosemite. What did she expect? A paved four lane to the gate and then expressway all the way into the valley? America’s Crown Jewel of the NPS sits in one of the most beautiful areas in our country. And yes, it is REMOTE. As you would expect it to be. It usually takes two full days to take it all in. Not just a day trip of a few hours. Sorry ladies.
Upon arrival they asked about our laundry service area, which I explained was not in use due to high demands on our water systems here in the mountains that were in the recovery process of a long drought. The asked again, promising to be frugal so I allowed it with promises of light laundry loads. They must have done a weeks’ worth of laundry. I also explained about the use of septic tanks and leech fields to dispose of our wastewater and excessive use of water for clothes and showering put a high burden on this system. I mentioned we ask our tenants to space their shower times and use of water. It appears these words didn’t mean anything to them. The result was an over-burdened system which in turn released its fumes through the roof venting (which is what they are designed to do). At different times according to the winds direction, these fumes are prevalent. The septic tank is not full. I blame lack of knowledge on these women. I had one of them call me to tell me the toilet won’t flush. I asked if she pushed the handle all the way down and she said she wasn’t sure. These are low flow toilets. In California they are the norm for conservation. She called me later in the evening to say that the toilet worked perfectly well after a full flush. We host hundreds of occupants a year. Some of them very large parties, and the only time there is ever a problem is by over burdening the system. All of them know how to flush a toilet.
On one other occasion, I was called and told that there wasn’t a hair dryer and that they needed a hair dryer..!! There were also lights out in the bathroom. I can’t imagine four middle aged women on a road trip without a hair dryer. I made a trip over, purchased a hair dryer for them and replaced two light bulbs. The third was loose and was screwed back in.
In the past we have received almost 100% % star reviews from our guests. These four women couldn’t be satisfied. I do not recommend any home owner’s book these four. You won’t get a good night’s sleep, they’ll run you in circles and then leave a nasty review.
The only people satisfied about their road trip is their husbands.

Very nice secluded rental that has a security system that works (take my word for it - we triggered it twice!) Modern and clean kitchen with spacious bedrooms. Originally I thought we would not spend much time at the cottage but once my sister spied the Weber grill, it was game on! We spent our days in the national park (which was only a short drive away) but most of our evenings were spent on the veranda, grilling chicken, salmon and corn that we purchased in the nearby town of Oakhurst. The mountain views and peace and quiet was something special after a long day. The night sky was pretty cool too. A delightful stay made even more so by the the property manager Steve and his wife Opal. They gave us a warm and friendly welcome that went a long ways to making us feel right at home.

“AMAZING weekend getaway - beautiful house with breath-taking views!!!!”

After just moving to CA from NYC, Liza's Bass Lake house was the perfect weekend getaway from the big city. The check-in/check-out process was seamless. Liza and her house manager Steve were friendly, attentive, professional and informative during the process leading up to our arrival and were accessible via phone/text throughout our stay if we needed anything. They were even kind enough to push back our check-out time to help accommodate us after a travel delay caused us to arrive a lot later than we planned. The house was clean, well-equipped with everything we needed, safe (alarm system was a huge plus), and in a perfect location! The property was quiet and scenic and a short drive to the beautiful Bass Lake! We had breakfast on the beautiful porch overlooking the breath-taking mountains; hiked on the gorgeous Bass Lake trails along side incredible waterfalls; cooked in the amazing, new kitchen and just had an all-around perfect weekend. We could not have asked for a better weekend and hope to come back to visit! Thank you Liza for everything!!!

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and 4 days. Liza and Steve were so flexible even when we had to show up a day late. The house was wonderfully prepared for way more than just us two. The trees and views were breath taking and we would love to come back. Highly highly recommend.

Beautiful home. If you want to get out of Los angels, Frenso, Sacramento, San francisco and have easy access up the mountain, this south side, Middle of California Yosemite Scenic by Way provides all the amenities. Easy and Quck access to swimming in Hot weather known in yosemite in the summer to be a mix of heat, waterfalls, Huge Granite Moutains, and now SWIMMING, becuase outside the park is Bass Lake, within 5 miles of this house and 26 miles to the south entrance yet we are the park, just outside gates to the National entrance. This is where the water is accessible and we have the back side of yosemite, the BY WAY with access to cooler fishing and roads on 222. We stayed 2 nights and had stayed the year prior 5 nights and will be back August when kids are in school to do some more hiking when the kids wont be whining to spend the whole time at the picture water swimming hold. Our kids used to get hot , sweaty and whine and complain after a few hours inside the park in summer so we decided to get a house so everyone could be Happy. The house is very comfortable and has good feng shui, which means it flows and the Vaulted ceilings of cedar with Fans and AC look directly out to the moutains so you are not trapped in a side remote dusty cabin but a nice home with upgrades that connect everyone inside. The kitchen meets the dining room with black granite a gas range with serving glass shelves to set your plates on whie cooking and serving creating a dining experience to be in the kitchen, cook and talk and meet your family and the table, eat and be in the views the whole time. Not stuck inside without comfort as the kitchen is upgraded and has all oak roller cabinets easy to get all cookware and stainless steel appliances and windows out back as well as front. My kitchen is not even this nice, The comort of a Temperpedic mattess in the master king and lots of beds for everyone with toppers even in the living room so the kids can stretch out and watch tv and not worry about the velvet couches, although they provide a full living room around the vaulted cedar ceilings and high windows to either entertain or meditate in, lots of cute knick knacks, TV cable, upgraded desks and glass top tables and expensive pottery barn desk with drawers and gass top also. WE come back yearly and the owner asked us to post a real review since the last reviewer slammed them with lies to get a deposit after breaking the chair to the new table outside, that I know is TEAK and hard to break and then say this place has bad beds. its has mats and topper on the kids beds and the adult beds have matreseses, and comfort, not on review in the owners other sites every said the beds were not comfortable and since we book with the owner direct and know they are on all websites, we developed a realationship where we know and trust we get a great place, a low price compared to other houses near the park this nice and we take good care of things here as if it is our own home and would pay if we broke anything, as we know what the owners go through and their furnishings are nice! It is a 4 to 5 star to us, 3 star to 4 for others who want the RITZ on a small budget , but we know the quality as we also own a home and a vacation home so we know when we are getting a good deal. The staff maids are clean and nice and in no way is stripping ones bed or gathering ones trash cleaning, as there is wood floors thought and linens and towels as well as furniture in here to take care of. High ceilings are not cheap they are have cedar lined, When you come to a 1/2 million dollar house you know what it is is, You dont bring 10 people and take advantage of the owner and then try to ruin their business when you dont respect their contract. We had to speak out as friend that visit and pay every year, although we love the place we feel its been misrepresented and were happy to post for the owners our great experience with them, the location , the locals, the river , the rangers one mile away and the respect to take out your trash from bears and moutains lions as you duty as a citizen not thinking its someone else trash becuase you rent, this is the mountains keep your trash in the park and around the park in this homes under control as their is no trash man truck. The owners offer for dump fee to take your trash and no one wants someone else stinky diapers to wrap up and take in their car if you dont.
when will people get a clue about the resources, the moutains and our arrogance in our culture of abusing nature through our demands for someone else to take on our toilet bowels, trash and think you can throw anything in the well, the septic or that your trash is going into nature. We recycle and that is all the owners ask which is to live as we all do esepcially up here where you drop things to re cycle and dont bring up toxic trash to thrown into the yosemite. WE love it here and will be back yearly. Im the lady who does inspections at the hospital and put the tags on the kitchen cabinets for retners to put things back in the same place but sometimes renters turn the place inside out for the owner, so I offer to do this and we even get a free trip by helping them. Reviews from come back good traverse means more than a one time user who is looking for something they dont respect already here in sacred yosemite, WE give the owners, the house, the owners and the access to town, water, people and events, and bass lake a 5 star thumbs up and we dont live here!
Thank you Liza and Mike and Steve and Maids , we know what it takes truly.! we own property too!
