We really enjoyed staying at Cable Mountain. The accomodations are similar to a one bedroom apartment with kitchen, balcony, etc., all for about the price of a hotel room. It is just outside Zion so is very convenient. A/C is central instead of Zoneline type. Most pleasant stay of our trip.

If you're not determined to stay inside Zion, this place is perfectly located. It's right outside the entrance and a minute walk to the Visitor Center. The rooms are absolutely beautiful.

I can't imagine a better location-a very short walk to the park entrance. A theater showing a movie on the history of Zion is adjacent to the property, as well as a small grocery. The walk into Springdale is enjoyable. We saw deer crossing the road on our way back. Besides the location, we were very pleased with the rooms-nicely decorated, modern appliances and bedding, and lovely living room area. We loved having the equipped kitchen. Wish we had stayed longer. We were on the second floor and had no noise problems even though the resort seemed full. This place exceeded our expectations!

Just retur;ned from Cable Mtn Lodge July 7-9, 2011. What a great place to stay. We never moved our car, we walked over to the park and hopped on the shuttle bus. So convenient. We had a luxury suite with view, can't say enough good things about the room. Beautiful, well appointed and spacious. Front desk staff very nice too!! Loved the pool. The best part was the $7 I spent on a raft for my daughter to float down the river. It was so much fun. Best $7 I ever spent.

Stay here if you have plans to vist Zion, you won't be disappointed.

Located literally next to the Zion National park, you can walk from the parking lot of the Cable Mountain Lodge to the pedestrian entrance to the park. The Lodge has for its other immediate neighbors an Imax theater (celebrating the park), a well-stocked (with tourist prices) grocery market, and a deli and sandwich bar. Believe it or not, its location is only one of its many strong points. This summer is their third season, and its freshness is notable in its design, both interior and exterior. Separated into two story pods of several units each, the architectural intention is to mimic the exterior of the handsome Visitor Center of the Park with hardi-plank that resembles dark wood weathered siding and local rock. Our unit was one of the smaller ones of which there are only two per “pod.” The other rooms are suites with separate bedrooms and a living area that includes a kitchen and sofa or Murphy bed for families or larger groups. The swimming pool was a hub, but was located at the edge of the complex, rather than the center, which meant our room thankfully never heard the squeals of delight enjoyed by the families staying there.
The room was spotless and new with sophisticated finishes – granite shower walls, sumptuous bedcovers, refrigerator and microwave, flat screen TV. We had our own little front porch – the larger suites their balconies – that we enjoyed after our hike. The park has a paved bike trail just inside the entrance, so before we launched ourselves onto the shuttle for the riverside hike at the top of the canyon (cars are not allowed past the Visitor Center) we took a quick bike ride from our room into the park and back.
The staff was pleasant, and although our appeals to them for help were initially dismissed when our efforts to get on their wireless internet were mysteriously impossible, they were ultimately very helpful the next day when it became clear something was really wrong: their technical staff sat outside our room with a laptop and worked on it until they’d restored the connection to our room. Housekeeping initially forgot to pick up our garbage, but to be fair, we'd left several plastic bags, having been to the market for our frozen dinner/microwaved meals. They were apologetic and prompt as soon as we let them know. It was reasonably priced, we felt spoiled, the location couldn’t be beat: a real find.

Room Tip: There are suites and single rooms, some more luxurious than others, so prices vary. Avoid the pod c...

The best thing that this lodge has going for it is it's location. It takes all but a 4 minute walk to be inside Zion National Park. It is also a really short walk from the lodge to Cafe Soleil, which has amazing breakfast. A walk to the center of town is all but 15 minutes. You can't beat this place for convenience!
We stayed four nights in a King Studio which was nice, it faced beautiful Zion and the virgin river was right across the parking lot. The bed was very comfortable, but there wasn't anything particularly "special" about the room, except the view.
All King Studio's are downstairs and there is a problem with hearing footsteps/people moving around upstairs. It was so bad one night we had to talk with the office. They apparently talked to the family staying above us and things got better.

For the money, I prefer the Desert Pearl (which I've stayed in before) - The main reason is that their pool and jacuzzi area is much larger and the grounds are nicer.
(Also, the Standard King rooms at Desert Pearl are wayyyyy cooler looking).
There was a family with 5 kids that took over the pool every late afternoon and because of it's size there really was not even a corner for me and my girl to relax after a full day of hiking. The family and kids were having a blast.
I hear that the suites at Cable Mountain are amazing and especially good for family's, but if you are a couple I'd try the Desert Pearl 1st - There is something more romantic about it and with the free shuttle you can get to the park pretty quickly as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the mountains. The rooms in the back face a large dirt hill

Stayed at the Cable Mountain Lodge for an extended weekend at the beginning of June. The location is excellent. Situated behind the last commercial center before the park, you have easy access to a market, a cafe, and a gift shop. It is just a five minute walk from your room to the park's entrance and another five minutes to the intra-park shuttle bus stop. Yet the lodge is away from the public parking, facing the Virgin River in a peaceful setting. All around you are the towering cliffs.

The rooms are huge - living room and kitchenette, bedroom, and spacious bath. Our bedroom faced the dirt hill that bounds the lodge on one side, so there wasn't much of a view that way, but the living room faced the Virginia River and cliffs beyond (and the Watchman camping ground across the river - but those are well screened by the Cottonwood trees). The rooms were clean and well kept.

You probably won't spend much time in your room with the gorgeous Zion Canyon National Park waiting outside. There is an amazing concentration of life along the Virgin River that rushes down the center of the canyon. It seems every wildflower in the park was in full bloom in June. And I added eight more bird species to my life list. Quite a haul for three days. Two must-dos are the NPS movie at the park's Human History Museum and the Riverside Trail at the north end of the canyon.
