Wonderful spa-like place to stay...just moments from the entrance to Zion.

Upon pulling into the turn for the Cable Mountain Lodge, we were greeted by two deer - just hanging out...they posed for pictures, allowed me to oooh and aaaah over them. It was wonderful!

Our room, 412, was a king studio. It was right behind the pool - a fine location for a short stay in the winter, but I'd be cautious of this room in the months when the pool is open. The room was clean and well appointed. I'd like to call the hotel more a spa than a lodge. We had luxury everything. Some perks... great tile floor, new carpet, luxury bedding, the most comfortable bed ever, ... it was great!

If we had been there longer than one night, we would have popped for a room that had the kitchenette. For us, though, we grabbed dinner and breakfast from a local place (Wildcat Willie's - see my review on that).

This was not the cheapest stay - but was well worth the price and the convenience to the park. Again, if we had a room with a kitchen, it would have made an easy route back to the hotel to make lunch before returning in for another hike.

I would strongly recommend this hotel/lodge.

Room Tip: Room 412 was fine in the winter, but would probably be noisy and less private when the pool is open...

If you are trying to figure out where the nicest place to stay in Springdale is, this is it. Plus, it is located right at the entrance to the park - literally across the parking lot. Rooms aren't in the 5 star category, but they are certainly comfortable and spacious. They have a kitchenette which is a nice bonus. We have also stayed at the Best Western Zion Park Inn and this is head and shoulders above that. Be careful to specify the location of your room. We had a room adjacent to the movie theater. Not a huge deal, but not the best either. Next time I go to Zions, this is definitely where I will stay.

Staying in Springdale is better than staying in the park as it's very easy to get in and out but there are lots more options for food in Springdale. Cable Mountain's location is unbeatable. It's right at the park entrance and the pedestrian bridge is right at their parking lot. There's a minimart, pool (summer), hot tub, equipment rental and Cafe Soleil is right next door.

Rooms were nice and comfy. We were in a king room on the ground floor. Insulation was great... the room felt hot even though it was cold out. We only had to turn on the heat the 1st night. Subsequent nights, we even turned on the ceiling fan cos it was a little warm in the room!

Being on the ground floor, we were too afraid to open the windows, especially as the screens looked like they had been forced open. But if you want a king room, they are only available on the ground floor.

Good service. If we ever come back to Zion, especially in the summer when roads are closed to cars, we'd probably stay here again as it's a nice place and location is very convenient.

Room Tip: king rooms are only on the ground floor.

We originally booked two nights at the Lodge for late Oct. 2012 and after our first day there, changed our plans to stay 4 nights. Our family usually likes to keep moving and see as many things as we can during a trip but we found our accommodations to be so relaxing, it was worth it to stick around. We had a great view of the park mountains from the second floor 1 BR unit (in 500#'s). We parked our car in the lot and barely moved it the whole time. After spending the day in Zion (touring via their shuttles) we'd come back to the lodge, have a swim then make some dinner or go out. Springdale has a good variety of restaurants and markets and we saved some $$ by bringing food to prepare in the kitchenette and on the lodge's grills. Staying in the off season also saved us money. Had we broken up our stay and gone to Bryce overnight we would have paid an equal amt. for lesser accommodations. A day trip to Bryce worked fine. When our kids get older a 2BR might be better but they were fine on the fold out couch this time. The only thing the rooms really need are doorstoppers.

Room Tip: Request a 2nd floor room facing the park.

Wow what a fantastic spot to stay right in Zion National Park. We stayed two nights while we explored Zion. The view from the pool was beyond belief. The room was clean, very comfortable bed, mini frig, and laundry facilities on site. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is walking distance to the bus stops and short drive to services in Springdale. There were deer outside in the courtyard early in the morning of the day we were leaving. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a second floor room facing the mountains.

Cabe Mountain Lodge is a beautiful property located just outside the entrance to Zion National Park. It's the perfect location and perhaps the best accomodations near the park. I would give it 5-stars except they are not doing a good job of maintaining the property. If it was just one thing, I wouldn't bother to write about it. Unfortunately, there were numerous things that collectively detracted from the experience my wife and I had during our stay. Here is a list of the things that annoyed us.

1) Black mold in the corners along the entire length of the marble shower. (It was gross.)
2) Numerous stains on the bedspread and carpet in the bedroom.
3) Broken electronic door lock. The maintenance guy said they "had a lot of problems with our lock". (So then why haven't they fixed it or replaced it?)
4) Blinds that won't extend all the way down in the living room. We had to prop pillows against the window at night to block the gap in the blinds.
5) Both closet doors were badly out of alignment and they did not have door stoppers. We had to be very careful not to leave them open else they would slam against the adjacent wall and either the door or adjacent wall would get damaged. (Both of the doors were already were dinged/scratched.)
6) The flapper on the roof vent flapped all night long due to the wind and my wife did not sleep much the first night. It sounded like a woodpecker on the roof. We solved the problem the second night by leaving the bathroom exhaust fan running all night. I don't consider this a maintenance problem, just an annoyance.

I'd expect a high end lodge to take better care of their facility than what we saw. It's my hope the owner will read this and address it.

Thank you for providing invaluable feedback on your recent stay. We can't express enough how disheartening it is to read of the things that detracted from the experience we strive to provided to our guests. I assure you these issues were addressed immediately after your departure and discussed with the owners, who very much care in the upkeep of our beautiful lodge. We do hope if you return to the Zion Canyon area, you will allow us to make amends for falling short in the the standards we seek to provide.

We stayed here for 2 nights to explore Zion and Bryce in November. As already mentioned by others, this is a great pick for a variety of reasons. However I wanted to say that there were 4 of us staying in the Luxury Suite and it was too crowded for 4. Maybe it would work for 2 adults and 1-2 small children, but otherwise I would suggest a family of 4 to look into 2 bedroom/family units at other nearby hotels. I would also like to add that during off season, it may not be as important to be right next to the Zion park entrance because you can drive your car inside the park. There is a pool/hot tub at Cable Mountain Lodge, but it is closed during off-season. I really liked the power of the shower and the novelty of a heated toilet seat/bidet, and thought the bed was very soft and comfortable. Overall, I would recommend this place 100% for a party of 2.
