“Its all about location, Location, LOCATION!”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

We stayed in a Courtyard Luxury suite for three nights (approx 190$ per night) that had a king bedroom, a private balcony and a fully equipped kitchen, the main living room area also had a queen sleeper pullout that was comfortable.
The location is just superb. The hotel is right outside the park entrance, so you dont have to cope with trying to find parking or the fear of getting towed. You park and walk across the river to the bus stop and catch the bus that takes you into Zion National park. Just for that comfort itself I would stay at this hotel again and again.
A few things you should know: We drove to Zion from Page Az approx 185 miles, we left in the evening after going to Antelope canyon and secret canyon. Big Mistake, we got to Zion, it was pitch dark and raining and the switchbacks were really scary! You drive through the park to get to the lodge so try to get there before sunset.
At the lodge we were on the first floor, parked a little bit away from our suite, it was dark, I didnt see anyone who could help with the luggage so I more or less unpacked my bag in the trunk of my car and carried what I needed up.
There is a grocery store very close that was very convenient, they also have an IMAX theater and give you free tickets for the movie there, there is a gift shop on the premises as well. The river flows through the property and is beautiful.
The view from our suite was really nice and I shouldn't say this but everyday when I left the hotel and walked into the park to the bus stand, and saw how people were struggling to get parking, I was happy I booked at this hotel.

Room Tip: choose a room on a higher floor you don't get disturbed by the people waking up earlier than you...

We visited Zion NP in March and after checking the rates (and TA ratings) of all the Springdale motels we chose Cable Mountain Lodge. It was truly the perfect choice for us. We stayed in a spacious suite with a nice kitchen and a separate bedroom. All nicely decorated, with 2 TVs so hubby could watch sports and I could watch Honey Boo Boo (hehe, kidding...sorta). But the best part was that you could literally walk down the lodge parking lot, across a little bridge, and be in the park, right at the Visitor Center, with all kinds of park info, exhibits, maps, and of course lots of kitschy cool souvenirs at the gift shop!

From there you can hop on the shuttle (if running) and take a quick ride into the beautiful canyon to explore the various sights and trailheads.

I hope to return in the Fall for a mother/sons hike up the Narrows.

BTW, Cable Mtn Lodge also gives AAA and AARP room discounts.

When we walked in our room my family said "wow!" This is a beautiful lodge. Rooms are 5star decor and lots of space. Great little kitchen, beautiful pool. Location is fantastic - we visited the restaurant twice and used the outfitters to set us up for a great day hiking the narrows. Would definitely stay again, and wish we could stay longer! Staff also wonderful - I left some dirty pans in the sink with the plan to wash them after our hike - and all was clean when we returned!

We spent three nights at Cable Mountain Lodge and had a very mixed experience.
The positives:
- Great location, immediately adjacent to Zion National Park.
- Wonderful little beachfront with lounges and picnic tables next to creek.
- Nice size frig and microwave were a great touch
- Nice pool and hot tub (thought they are always busy).

However:
- Noise. We were in a first floor room and it was loud. Every step our neighbors above took, plumbing (showers, toilet flushing), even conversations.
- AC. The AC was also exceptionally loud. When it kicked-in sounded like starting an old VW bug.
- Quality. General quality of the towels and sheets was poor.
- Room layout. While large room, the only closet was stashed behind bathroom door. Inconvenient location to get into, especially with others trying to use the sink,

Not a bad place to stay, but certainly room for significant improvement.

Room Tip: Upstairs! Request facing the creek or the courtyard.

We recently did the big loop of Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion and had the pleasure of staying at the Cable Mountain Lodge just outside the south gate of Zion and highly convenient for the Zion shuttle. Replete with a grocery store, movie theater, pub and most importantly, a pool/hot tub, the Cable Mountain Lodge presented as one of the best places we stayed on our trip. As a bonus, it comes with a kitchen and is quite spacious, housing our family of five quite comfortably. The best was not having to worry about the car or parking for the two days we stayed there, being able to do laundry and having everything you need for a visit to Zion within walking distance. Plus, it sits with a great view of the bordering valley and Watchman mountain without having to enter the park. If we ever come back to Zion, we'd return here.

Stayed 3 nights while exploring Zion national park. The lodge is located in a "village" of stores (brewpub, foodmart, outfitters) right outside the gate to get into Zion. There is also a path that runs along the Virgin river behind the lodge that leads to a side entrance into Zion. We stayed in a poolside suite with incredible views of the mountains. The staff was attentive and cordial and the room was appointed nicely with wood laminate floors and SW type decor. Only minor complaint was the weak WiFi. They had multiple routers on the property but the signal was never consistent or strong. I'd say its the best balance of location if you want to be close to Zion but still have easy access to stores, restaurants, etc.

Room Tip: Go poolside. Hillside is literally a hill.

Have been to Zion several times -this was first stay at Cable Mountain Lodge. Really happy with it. As has been mentioned by others, Cable Mountain Lodge is at the gates of the park - and with the shuttles, we did not use our car during the 2 days we stayed at CML.

It is close to a lot of parking lots and busyness for entrance to Zion NP, but the way they have it tucked back along the river, staring at the canyon walls, with a little courtyard amongst the buildings gives you feeling of being away from it all.

Pool area is nice too.

We have stayed at other places in Zion - including Flanigan and Desert Pearl (actually, we stayed at Desert Pearl a few days of this trip also- we were unable to secure accommodations at one hotel the entire time). They all have their plusses and minuses - mostly plusses. Cable Mountain Lodge has a separate bedroom which is nice. The kitchen is really useful considering the Sol market is next door. The market is fairly priced, considering 20% discount to CML guests.

We'd come back.
