“Overpriced and shabby”
Reviewed 20 October 2006

After staying just one night at this motel I was covered in bites that were more consistent with bed bugs than gnats.
There was a huge gap under the door to the room which let insects crawl in off the street.
Springdale is a nice town but there are plenty of other motels and hotels - don't stay in this one unless you are truly desparate.

Stayed in room #6 in late June 2006. This is a lower level "street unit". Paid a quoted AAA rate of $69.60 plus 11.5% tax for a queen size bed in a modestly sized room. The room is near (about 100 yds.) the Zion park shuttle pickup. Street noise is minimal at night as Springdale is quiet. The room interior is dated and well worn. It contained an old microwave and old air conditioner which were functional, but not special. A new but cheap TV was recently installed. A small refrigerator and coffee maker were also provided.

The bed was acceptable and the room reasonably clean (as long as you didn't look under the bed!). The bathroom was also well worn and dated but serviceable and acceptably clean. The towels were very skimpy.

The provided breakfast consisted of dry boxed donuts, coffee, juice, cereal and toast. Dull and unexceptional.

Bottom line: This is a bare-bones, no frills option. If you're out and active all day and just need a place to crash at a reasonable price this should work. On the price front I would only stay here if it is AT LEAST $25 a night less than other higher rated places in Springdale. Also, when I checked prices after we got back in July I found a rate of $59 online for the same room for the end of July.

NOTE: We were at Zion at mid-week during peak summer season and saw a surprising number of hotels in Springdale with vacancy signs posted. I'm not sure what that means but I didn't expect that.

This was my 4th stay and next time will go elsewhere. There were dozens of gnats in my room, in the sink and bathtub. I was biten all over my head and face and after three days my face was swollen and the itching was incredible. I told the front desk clerk several times but she acted as if she knew nothing about it. Found out they are common in Zion at certain times of year. Thought I would have to go to the clinic for treatment. Room is cheap for tight budgets but they are depressing and you cannot swim in pool. It's too cold.

This is a reliable pick for budget travelers. It's just about the cheapest motel in Springdale, and though it's nothing fancy, it's clean. The decor is retro, with noisy wall A/C units and a strong smell of cleaning agents. No bathtub in the bathroom, but there is cable TV and despite what some websites say, a telephone in my room. The management is very friendly, and there's free coffee in the morning. The biggest drawback to my experience, which on the whole was quite adequate, was noisy neighbors that seemed to be staying at the motel on a weekly or monthly basis. The best advantage: it's a two-minute walk from the nearest free shuttle stop that runs through Springdale town, connecting into Zion National Park.

These nights didn't cost us much. It was fine. It was clean which was my #1 priority. There weren't any frills except the pool which my 8 year old enjoyed. It wasn't fancy and the beds weren't very firm, but everything worked like it should. We had a two bedroom unit, but not the remodeled one. There was no A/C in the second bedroom, but even in August I didn't need it. They had coffee in the office in the morning, but we were always in the park early and never took the time. Thought it was interesting that Springdale closes up early in the evening (the restaurant we had dinner at closed at 9pm) and we had to look for some place that opened for breakfast before 8am.

My family and I stayed in a recently rennovated two room family suite. The rooms were nice but there were no extras (refrigerator, microwave). There also was only one TV and that was in the room with the two beds so once the kids were asleep we could not watch TV in our room. The beds had very firm mattresses, (to firm for my liking). The pool was small with a max compacity of 8 but was really nice on the record breaking hot days. Overall a average motel for a average price. While there we spent little time in the Lodge so is was worth the money.

Our family reserved two adjoining rooms at Terrace Brook in mid-May 2005 and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were somewhat older, but very clean and comfortable. It is within walking distance to restaurants, gift shops, library (to use internet service), and the Zion bus shuttle. I would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Zion.
