I was initially concerned that we could not book a room at the Zion Lodge in Zion Park but then we found the Driftwood Lodge. What a wonderful hotel with stunning views of the Zion valley and a charming deck overlooking the mountains. I just sat on that deck the first night and watched the sun set and the stars comes out over the mountains and cliffs. Wow is all I can say!
We stayed here 2 nights in mid August 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The room was very very nice with a huge king bed and a separate sitting room (and that wonderful deck)! Very clean and well appointed. The staff was extremely helpful and nice and we honestly hated to check out.
The "official" entrance to Zion was about a mile away but, in reality, you are in the Park when you stay here. Springdale is a very pleasant, artsy kind of town that you can spend a whole evening exploring on foot. There are tons of restaurants and shops to explore in town. We could have spent a month here if we had known what it was like and probably will next year.
If you are going to Zion National Park, stay in Springdale, Utah. And stay at the Driftwood Lodge. Your vacation will thank you.More
