Room was clean but a little old minor issue theTV was so old it did not have a HDiMI or a VGA plug so we could not watch movies from my computer, the room was really packed in with 2 beds a table and armoire it was real tight. On the good side a refrigerator microwave and coffee maker was nice the bath was updated and very clean. On the last note the ice maker has a note if you are icing your cooler please pay the front desk a dollar REALLY

We stayed at the lodge for three nights and enjoyed our stay. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very polite and helpful. The lodge is located right in the middle of restaurants, shops and galleries and you can catch a shuttle to Zion National Park right out front. We will definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for 1 night. Check in was fast & simple with some good advice regarding the area from the young woman behind the desk. We arrived about 2pm & were told to wait an hour to be sure our room was ready. After an hour we entered our room to find some foodsuffs in a takeaway container & a half glass of water with some used brochures lying around. We went back to reception to tell the clerk & we were assured she would look into it.

We left the hotel to hike in the N.P., on our return at 6.30pm the room was unchanged & the used items were still there. The items were taken to reception where we were told (a gentleman this time) that the housekeeping staff were short staffed & that this was very out of character for this to happen. We voiced concerns that the beds had not been made as the pillows looked crumpled & the decorative pillows were on the ground. We were assured the beds had been changed as he had seen them being made up. We accepted this & returned to our room, only to find a few hours later, when we decided to shower before going to bed, three used bars of soap (2 in the bath & 1 on the basin with a used face cloth). Closer inspection found another used face cloth draped over the shower head. After showering I also noticed long strands of dark hair on the shower walls....both my husband & I have short hair. It was clear to us that the room had not been serviced fully. It was most unsettling. Next morning on checking out we related what else we had found to the same gentleman we had spoken to earlier. All he could manage was an apology.

Regarding the room, we had a ground floor room. You could hear every footstep from the room above. This wasn't really a problem until 5am in the morning when the occupants in the room above arose early and began walking around. Being on the ground floor with a window right on the verandah there was little privacy unless you closed the curtains & turned on the lights. The room had complimentry, wireless internet, but it was slow & sometimes not working.

On a positive note the room had a microwave, mini fridge, iron & ironing board in room. Despite having a microwave, there were no plates or cuttlery to use with it. The shower had good water pressure. Room was nice size with adequate storage space & two queen beds. No in-room safe for valuables. The room had pleasant decor but looked a little tired & dated. The hotel is in an excellent location in Springdale, right next to the national park with shuttle buses at the door.

Unfortunately, the lack of cleanliness, soured our visit to the amazing Zion N.P. & I doubt we would risk staying at the Pioneer Lodge again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the first floor to avoid the noise of upstairs guests. It will also give you more privacy. There is no lift so you will have to use the stairs. Better still, look for a room elsewhere, there was plenty to choose from in Springdale.

My husband and I were celebrating a late honeymoon. Obviously, we aren't the type that like the bells and whistles. This was a quiet, rustic style lodge. I loved the feel of the room. It has a great location with the free shuttle access to Zion National Park. It was perfect.

Our little family stayed at the Pioneer Lodge in Feb 2013. Our room was comfy, cozy and VERY clean. We travel a lot as as a family (and blog about it at TheVocalSokol.com ) and the Pioneer Lodge exceeded our expectation for sure.

Since we were traveling in the off season we packed a lot of our own food. The microwave and refrigerator saved us a lot of time and frustration finding food in a small seasonal town.
