Jacaranda Lake Elementaita Lodge
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 29 August 2013

It is a wonderful place right on the shore of Lake Elementaita. I have stayed there several times driving between Uganda and Tanzania. The lodge is situated just off the Nairobi - Nakuru Highway (there is no noise from the highway).
The rooms are big and comfortable.
The restaurant is very nice and cozy and the food is fantastic.
I especially enjoyed having breakfast outside enjoying the splendid view of the sun raising over the lake.
All staff and service is excellent.
The lodge offer good accommodation for drivers, guides etc.
I am looking forward very much to going back.

The hotel is located at a very convenient place, making it easy to access. Was there last weekend for 1 night. The service was great and the staff are attentive and always there to attend to any query that one might have.
The food was awesome. The ambiance is totally mind blowing.
Definately looking forward to going back there

The hotel needs some refurbishment right from the buildings to having the grounds manicured. The rooms are however good and quite. The staff are also quite helpful which is good.
The food is great and fresh.

If they can do some more work on the grounds, it would help. They should also install internet connectivity for business purposes.

Considering that the lodge is near a main road, one could only hear occasional sounds of traffic. Arrived for one night when our group was the only party and so we had undivided attention from the staff. My lodge was quaint with pastel colours. The twin beds took up a lot of the room. The main and bathroom doors were padded and there was a requisite mosquito net.The shower tap- I needed one of the staff to show me how to operate it. Since the lodge was a bit of a distance from the reception area, although the paths are well lit, it would be good to have a make your own tea service and a telephone in the room. The three course buffet at dinner and lunch had
lots of fresh salad and fruit. The view from the dining room is over an expanse of rolling hills
and of course the lake. Staff were very polite and accommodating.
We went on a guided tour and the abundance of birdlife is one of it's main attractions. Mention of a bird migration around mid June and so we only saw a few pelicans and egrets on the soda
lake. Our walk guide was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, birds, history of the old Happy Valley families and the upcoming conservation projects. This was my second visit and
although too chilly to swim, certainly pack walking shoes and bird watching paraphernalia and enjoy a wonderful dawn chorus as well as serenity. An extra thrown in after the afternoon walk was watching a DVD on bird life, while we waited for our transport.

Room Tip: Choose room with a double bed, might have more space to move around than two singles for one person.

We stayed here Christmas Eve, 2012 and loved it. We enjoyed the nature walk with the resident naturalist, Joseph, enjoyed excellent food and entertainment on Christmas Eve. The setting is beautiful ad for a tourist it is a good opportunity to meet other people from NAirobi who have come with their families to enjoy a break in the countryside.

Stayed here as part of a tour of Kenya. Because of overbooking we were upgraded to the suite overlooking the lake. It was magnificent with an amazing view of the birds. The added touch of flannel covered hot water bottles in the beds at night was icing on the cake. Food and service were great. The grounds were lovely. Even without an upgrade I would happily spend more time at this lodge.

This undoubtedly a beautiful setting on Lake Elementia and very close to Lake Nakuru. Our welcome was poor to say least, very unoblieging. Even our guide/driver (though he did not say it) bristled. The rooms were in a hunting lodge style and very comfortable. The main reception room very interesting an comfortable. The waiting staff improved over our stay, but when compared with other establishments in Kenya, have a long way to go. The management at our departure were no better.
