I had a wonderful evening pitching my tent on this Nanyuki farm before heading up Mt. Kenya. The staff were absolutely fantastic: they were friendly and helpful, and showed me around the farm id-ing all the birds and plants I asked about. The campsite is quiet and comfortable, with clean, shared bathrooms. Campers use outdoor camping showers, for which they will heat water whenever you need. I had a look in their tents, which seem very comfortable and simple (not luxury tent-cabins, just beds and side-tables).
A number of special touches really set this place apart. 1) Fresh, incredible, sweet strawberry juice! 2) All food, even my samosa snack, was served with a fresh garden salad (arugula! nasturtium! baby lettuce!) AND a beet and cabbage salad. 3) You could have them pick and cook whatever local Kenyan veggies or fish from the farm you were curious to eat. 4) They prepared a thermos of hot water for the night. 5) Great view of Mt. Kenya.
It is a bit far (3.5km) from Nanyuki town, but not far from the main road. It wouldn't be troublesome to get there with a matatu. As a bookend for Mt. Kenya, it was perfect. I couldn't recommend it more.
