We chose Tamassa based on the trip advisor recommendations and we were not disappointed. The staff could not do enough to make us welcome and comfortable. The food in the buffet restaurant good to excellent, with plenty of fresh options cooked in front of you and a wealth of options. Most nights had some sort of theme, but I highly recommend the Indian night which was by far the best. The Playa restaurant was excellent , though the a la carte restaurant was limited to 3 options per course (one of which had a supplement) with the options changing every night. Lobster was an additional option every night. The staff in the B Bar were very attentive and welcoming. We were there during the World Cup and they stayed open for us to watch the games, but be aware that drinks are charged after midnight. Also the free cocktails , which my wife and daughter sampled extensively, tend to use local liquor.
We had 2 trips out, one to Port Louis which was interesting, but i would not necessarily recommend as the port area is not to european standards and the city is largely commercial. However the most wonderful trip was to Iles de deus Cocos, a private island owned by the hotel. It can be used for weddings, but on the day we visited my family of four shared the island with 2 other couples (both on honeymoon). It was the most wonderful experience, each party had their own host to tend to their needs, we snorkelled in the beautiful sheltered bay, with the largest variation of fish i have seen before having freshly prepared lavish lunch and drinks, with live musicians and then walking round the island and then relaxing in hammocks on the beach with more drinks before leaving. I wonderful experience.
I haven't been to an all inclusive resort before, but the Tamassa has certainly given me a taste for it.i have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, and neither do my wife, 18 year old son and 17 year old daughter who all agree it was a very special experience.
