We visited in november, i.e. outside the high season - that means, this giant hotel was almost empty and the prices were significantly lower than in the summer, which made it quite an enjoyable stay.
The room was spacious, with a view of the sea but quite cold - tiny carpet on the tiles and the heating was broken (or as they put it, it was not functioning yet - "pas encore"...), but it was clean and in good condition. The hotel staff could also be qualified as "cold".
There was also a bowling, which was really good fun.
The breakfast was ok, though we had to ask the staff to bring hot water for the tea since the one on the table was lukewarm.
Chems hotel is located right on the seaside but i guess this is not much of a beach destination, since there is a refinery nearby and the wind sometimes carries the smell. It is a bit on the outskirts of the city - good 30minute walk or 1dinar worth of taxi ride. Quiet, laid-back city out of the main tourist crowd.More
