We were looking for one of the other guest houses when the owner of this place chased us on his motorbike and persauded us into coming to look at a room. As we were very hot and tired and carrying heavy bags, in a moment of weakness we let him bundle our rucksacks on his motorbike and followed him.

Anyway it turned out to be our lucky day. He gave us a choice between one of his concrete chalet rooms or a wee bungalow for around 6 euros between us. We stayed in the chalet room and it was new clean and comfortable. You had to pay a bit more for AC but there was no need for it the night we stayed.

The owner helped us to organise our onward bus tickets and was very nice and friendly.

Also, this little place is out of the way of the main town (about 5-10mins walk) which in Vang Vieng is a good thing as it's a party town for backpackers and can get noisy.

We turned up here (without reservations) based solely on the reviews on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed.

The rooms are very clean and spacious (seem very new). The staff, in particular the owner, helped with any requests we had and are very friendly.

The guest house is a little way from central Vang Vieng but easily walkable (10 mins or so). This has the advantage of making it a quieter location which is no bad thing in this town.

An ace place to stay.

Our tuk-tuk driver took us to this place first upon arrival in Vang Vieng, but none of us inspected the place, not trusting the driver. We wandered into the center of town, and after going to some 10 guesthouses settled down for the night in a Dok-something place. I didn't like it, not the atmosphere, and walking down the street, checked out Phoomchai again, and fell in love with it!

For 60,000 kip, we got a bungalow, twin beds, hot water, gorgeous wooden rooms, and a lovely balcony in front. Throw in free coffee and bananas too! We took the non-AC room, which came with a table fan, and it was fine for us. I had no complaints about it being away from the town - walking 5 minutes is not being away for me, and in fact, it was a blessed relief to be away from the touristy trap that surrounds the center of Vang Vieng. Owner was friendly, affable, and really, this was just a deal. The best place in Laos for me - by a long mile, for that price.

8,00 € for very nice and clean bungalow with hot shower. The owner is good english speaking young man who knows what tourism is. I have no complains except the bungalows are a little far from Vang Vieng "city center" (about 5 min walk).

We arrived in the middle of a rainy night and our driver took us to this place. It's sometimes hard to trust the drivers since many are paid on commission, but this turned out to be our lucky night! This place offers private bungalow type accommodation with large clean bathrooms. It is a little bit far from the center of town, which for us was welcomed since the center of town never sleeps....
They were able to do our laundry, arrange a bus out of town for us, and answer some questions about local attractions. The owner was extremely nice and offered fruit with the complimentary morning coffee.
If you don't mind walking a little into town in exchange for a clean private room and attached bathroom, this is your place!
