“Brilliant tour by Mr. T.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2013

We didn't stay at the organic Mulberry farm, but we was given a tour by the founder of the Organic mulberry farm - Mr. T. He gave us an allmost two hour tour of the property and was very informative all the time. We saw his mulberry trees, but also mango, papaya, durian, avocado, cotton - and many more. Cute little mud brick houses and a lot of different animals. If you want to know about the nature and culture in Laos, Mr. T is your man... highly recommendable.

We stayed for over a week at the Organic Farm where we stayed in the standard double room (shared bathroom) for 70,000 kip a night.

The location is really beautiful and tranquil. There are only 3 river bars left now so you don't hear any of the music so it's really peaceful. Great for reading a book by the river!

The restaurant has lots of great food mostly using the organic products produced at the farm! Musts are a Mulberry shake in the morning, the toasted goats cheese baguette for lunch followed by the Harvest curry for dinner.

There's a great choice of rooms, from dorms to mud houses with porches overlooking the river!

You can either volunteer on the farm milking goats, collecting eggs, fruit and much more or help teach English to local kids from 5 til 7 in the evening.

Plus the staff are lovely and really helpful. They go out of their way to make your stay nice!

If you stay, you will probably end up staying longer than planned! Its a great place!

The food is all organic and amazing. Try the mulberry shake. All very healthy but so tasty so it's a win win. The home made goats cheese and mulberry wine is to die for. Accommodation is very basic so if u want a tv and luxury this Is not the place to stay for you although I'd still recommend eating there. I stayed in a bungalow which was very cheap and really enjoyed sleeping with the high powered fan on and no air con. Didn't wake up with a dry throat for once. Next to the river where you can go tubing. Can't hear a thing these days as all those bars have been shut down so very relaxing and quiet. I loved saying hello to the pigs, goats and multiple dogs who resided on the farm. Would 100% recommend.

Been to Organic Farm and stayed in a shared room for 70,000 kips. You can volunteer cleaning the goat pens and the surrounding. In the evening, I cycled to a nearby High School to teach English. It was a fun experience to get to know the locals. You can always cycle to the nearby market or Vang Vieng town which is about 4km away from the town.

I'd read & heard abouth the Organic Farm from other travellers and I wanted to see what all this tubing lark was about but had no intention of actually doing it!
The farm is beautiful. Would be even more so without the crap techno blarring out from the bars across the river.
I walked around the farm for just over an hour visiting the goats & pigs, seeing the mud bricks drying in the sun, looking at the different types of accommodations available just enjoying the garden and views.
On returning to the cafe I had a goats cheese & tomato sandwich. Was delicious.
Looked for the cafe that's meant to be in town a few times - as well as Whopping Burger but couldn't find either.
Farm is definitely worth a visit.

The organic farm is a place to learn and practice something wonderful: the biological cycle of farming. Goats and mulberry trees are the main subjects in the cycle of this farm. We stayed here around six days, and that was a very good experience. In the morning we woke up early to help in the goat farm: cleaning, milking, feeding baby goats, etcetera. The owners and local staff, some of them volunteers like us, were very friendly.

We stayed in a building with two rooms and a dorm room. We were the only guests in that building, so actually we rented a house with attached bathroom and toilets. The bed was well springed, maybe the most important comfort that you wish after a day of hard working!

The main problem of the farm is that it looses their volunteers and even butterflies (needed for mulberry silk production) because of the disco. Forbearance is a required mental quality when you want to work in the farm during the afternoon time. Because of the multiple disco sounds coming from here and there, every afternoon we escaped and made a trip to either Vang Vieng downtown or the caves. We returned at about 5pm, the time that disco time would be over. After assisting in the farm again during sunset, we felt satisfied about our day and very relaxed. Our six days passed so quickly, and the only thing left are good memories. The trip to the caves with the local staff in that funny greens-vehicle is most memorable! Wish I could have an organic mulberry juice right now.
