“Beautiful views and very kind staff!”
Reviewed 9 March 2012

The view straight onto the sea is beautiful, but what most impressed me was the kindness of the staff. One of the staff went to Thandwe and back on the bus to get me a memory card for my camera! So kind!

It's nice and peaceful as it's at the end of the beach. We had a brilliant stay here.

PVR is literally the last stop before the fishing village. Wonderful stretch of the beach. Manager runs a tight and friendly ship. Excellent breakfasts and lunch or dinner on the islet.
If you want a quiet (little nightlife and no jetskis etc) end to a trip to Myanmar, Ngapali and PVR deliver exactly what you are looking for at a price well below the more swanky resorts up the beach.

Great value for money as the resort opens on to the beach - in a quieter area of beach close to the fishing village (No quaint harbours though)
The rooms are functional rather than luxurious (no bath and the shower and toilet are together in a 'wet room') However the rooms are spacious enough and the doors open on to a verandah and then step down to the private sunbeds and the beach.
Great to relax and you also feel you have escaped that large hotel syndrome!

Room Tip: Make sure you have a beach front room Sound proofing is not good

Excellent low key beach accommodation located at the southern end of the gorgeous white sand Ngapali Beach. Right on the ocean front with uninterrupted views of the Bay of Bengal. Bungalow accommodation was very spacious and well appointed with fridge, TV with cable connection and airconditioning from 2.00 pm to 7.00 am each day. As there isn't a separate shower recess the bathroom floor tends to all wet. Two restaurants, one located on an island at high tide and low tide you can amble across the sand to drink/ dine surrounded by ocean and waves breaking. There isn't a swimming pool which isn't really needed as a short walk across the fine white sand to the gorgeous turquoise waters of the ocean. Service and attention to guests' needs at breakfast dropped when the manager wasn't present. Thoroughly recommend time to chill out to watch the sunsets, explore the nearby fishing village and do some snorkelling / fishing on one of the long boats.

Room Tip: The single storey bungalows facing the beachfront are excellent - quite, private and uninterrupted v...

We stated at Pleasant View Resort for two nights at the end of our trip in Myanmar. The bungalow we stated in was spacious, spotless, and the deck opened right out onto the beach. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and the restaurant out on the islet was lovely. My only criticism would be that the bathroom would benefit from some tiles on the shower facing walls but this is a tiny pedantic point. Certainly seemed to be by far the best value in a stunning resort.

Even though the hotel was full, it was pleasant to walk its grounds and patronise its restaurant on the islet just across the beach. Fantastic location -maybe one of the best in Ngapali- to go and explore the fishing villages around or rest on the sunbeds or on the beach. The view is exceptionnal. One tiny reservation: the rooms on the lower floors could be better insulated from the ones above. But the staff is so helpful you tend to forget about that minor inconvenience.

Pleasant View Resort is a very nice boutique hotel right on the beach with two types of accommodations: stand alone bungalows and a two-story building with upper and lower rooms. Rooms in the two-story building share common walls. The bungalows are nicer and afford more privacy. All rooms and bungalows are steps from the beach. The materials used in decorating the rooms are simple and understated. PVR is a great place to relax. The beach is beautiful and the water is unbelievably warm. PVR is not a high-end, luxurious resort like Amata, but it's charming, clean and peaceful. This is a small hotel without a swimming pool and organized activities. If this is your idea of paradise, look no further.

The manager is very warm and helpful and seemed genuinely interested in making our stay enjoyable. Staff was also very accommodating. Housekeeping came twice a day, which was great given the proximity to the sand.

Breakfast is served in a simple outdoor dining area. There is also a restaurant on the islet nearby which is a beautiful setting. Prices seem higher than at the many restaurants that line the road. (Had great meals at Zaw II and Two Brothers. The seafood at both was tremendous. Most restaurants in Myanmar use MSG, which they call "seasoning powder". If you don't want MSG on your food, say these magic words: Hin Cho Hmont Mitened. Not sure about the exact translation, but it does the trick.)

Be sure to check out The Beach Massage, just south of Amata. A smart entrepreneur set up a thriving business offering massage under the palm trees for a very reasonable price. Great ambiance just steps from the beach, but if you go late in the day, kids play volleyball right in front of the massage stand. For a more peaceful massage, go before 4:00pm. Had wonderful Thai massage three days in a row! (Preferred Thai to Myanmar style massage.)

This is the southernmost hotel on Ngapali Beach. We were told that there are plans to develop the beach to accommodate more tourists and new hotels are in the works. Currently, PVR feels like it's separated a bit from the other hotels as one side is next to a village. You can rent bicycles from the hotel and visit the village. You can even buy fresh fish directly from the fisherman's boats and take them back to the hotel for cooking.

My only complaint is that trucks come daily to pick up the fish from the boats in the late afternoon adjacent to the hotel. They drive in circles on the beach with their motors running continuously for hours as they load up on fish.
