The Amata is located in a beautiful setting and has been built sympathetically to it's surroundings. We stayed in a deluxe room which was most impressive - a/c, tv, cd, good shower and bath, mini bar etc etc. The rooms and the resort in general is not cheap by Myanmar standards but it is a great place to stay.
The staff are excellent and all very friendly. The restaurant is good and has an extensive menu catering for pretty much any taste. I would suggest eating out however as the local food in the fish restaurants is amazing and so much cheaper. A combination of staying at the Amata but eating out works very well from a budgeting point of view.
Ngapali beach is just stunning. December to February is the best time to visit and we had pure sunshine for 4 days although the evenings were a little chilly. It's also a very good place for snorkelling and you can hire a boat to take you out for 4 hours for about US$15, bargain.More
