“Getaway for a memorable”

Even though it was a ski resort, I actually stayed in this hotel during autumn. The hotel is sparkingly new and all ready for 2018 winter olympics. The moment you stepped into the hotel, you are welcomed with a strong woody smell which I really like. The lobby is huge with a wide outdoor view of the surroundings where the campfire lies in the centre.
The hotel is right beside holiday inn with the ski slope nearby.
From the look of the floorings at the lobby, I doubt its a ski in ski out resort. I was surprised that the concierge is not able to speak English at all. When i asked for a winter guide book (so I can know the ski ticket rates etc), he replied unclearly that it is not winter now. A convenience store is just around the corner, prefect to get Soju or raspberry wine for chill out. A waterpark is also within the vicnity if you crave for more excitement. Buffet breakfast is normal like any regular big hotels, only thing that made me overjoyed was the persimmons which has the texture of sorbet after being frozen.

I would highly suggest to the management to train the employees on English before the international is held in 2018. There is clearly a huge area of improvement in the area. I am glad I travelled with a tour guide if not I will be lost.

Went during lunar new year. First room had stuff all over the floor. Asked for a new room, they said they would have it specially checked. Got our new room, only to find a similar experience, and trash on our balcony. Was disappointed by that! We asked to switch to the holiday inn, but all was booked up. THey apologized saying it was a busy time of year. I am not sure for a chain hotel that's a good excuse.
Beautiful location, LOVED the fireside cafe/coffee area at night after a ski. Had the dinner buffett and really enjoyed that too. Nice being near the ski slopes and great view off our balconey. Area is gorgeous. Discount on skiing for staying at the hotel.
It's a shame, the hotel for being new seems to have a lot of wear and tear.
DId have friends in the holiday inn, a bit more basic, but overall all three places seem like a nice place to stay and probably the nicest around for the ski area.
Overall, once we got past the carpet issues and got them resolved, we enjoyed the place!! Will probably return

This is a typical Intercontinental - clean, good ambiance but the sad thing is Holiday Inn across the street is obviously cheaper and closer to the ski slope(actually right on the slope). There are also more shopping, food and ski shops near by. I'm not sure how nice the rooms are but it seemed like they also have suites with kitchenettes which maybe nice for families with children. If you are looking for stylish upscale pampering- I say stay with Intercontinental for sure since they have the live piano bar and the spa.

Be aware if you get sick in Korea. Intercontinental (nor any other hotels for that matter) have any medication for their guests(not even aspirin). They don't sell medicine at regular stores and the only place you can get stomach medicine/aspirin at Pyeong Chang is at the medical center located near the ski center (agacent to the Holiday Inn).

There are plenty of Korean/Japanese cuisines to eat around Pyeong chang and Intercontinental has a Western pasta/steak menu which is a nice addition.

The spa at this hotel was the best part for me. I'm not sure if Holiday Inn has a spa but the one at Intercontinental was pretty awesome. I was able to get a reservation right away. The staff and the therapist were very friendly and attentive. I wanted to try something different and the staff recommended Oriental Zen which was a mix of stretching and deep tissue. My therapist was wonderful and knew exactly which areas of my body ached from skiing. There is an outdoor hot tub but it wasn't ready for the public. I bet once the outdoor hot tub is completed it would be a wonderful addition. There is however a nice indoor sauna and whirl pool. I would give this hotel a 5 star for sure for its accommodations.

Pretty decent experience, nice facility and service. Only a bit more of English would have helped. The food was ok, but could be slightly better for a 4/5 star hotel

Rooms are clean and comfortable. The balconies present great view of the mountains. Hotel is in the newly developed Alpensia Resort area. There are a 24-hr convenience store, a supermarket and a number of small restaurants (of Korean, Japanese cuisine etc.) The buffet breakfast offers both Western and Korean food. Since Alpensia is basically for winter sports, so it is pretty quiet in summer.

Room Tip: Get a room with the mountain view.

The moment i stepped into the resort room, i say " wow".. that is amazing with that lovely beautiful scenery right from my resort room balcony. With a small coffee table and comfy chair at the balcony. Rooms, toilets are extremely clean and the bed is so so comfortable which i am so reluctant to wake up from my bed. From far, i can see horses and cow on the ski mountain. Especially the cool breeze from the balcony in the night and early morning. The staff there are very friendly and helpful. My family enjoys the stay at the resort too! Around the resort, you can also find the 24 hours convenience store there. They sell quite a number of things which i believe you can get what you want from there when you are feeling hungry in the night. I will definitely make a come back again to this hotel. I would strongly recommend it to my friends and relatives who are looking for a hotel stay in Korea. Keep up your good work!!

This intercontinental was built in hope to win the bid for the winter games 2016 I believe? So the area is really quiet - pretty dead actually. Stayed here whilst doing a tour of south Korea and our tour group were pretty much the only guests in the hotel.

Really nice interior, professional and friendly staff - was quite surprised at that actually, being so quiet and far from anything.. Anyway, rooms were also lovely, clean and modern - nothing too flash.

I used the sauna and baths for an extra fee. The hot bath is in this quite large area where there are steam and dry saunas and I was the only person there. Was a bit scary actually, I kept looking over my shoulder to check for ghosts or something but I'm a bit paranoid I guess.

Agree with the person below about the loud music playing but didn't bother me too much. I could only find one set of lifts which means we had to walk alllll the way around which is a bit annoying if you're starving and can't wait to get to breakfast, otherwise no dramas. Buffet breakfast was also good - surprised again they actually served buffet when the hotel was so dead. It was a good thing. Highly recommend.
