“A little bit of paradise directly on the beach”
Reviewed 25 December 2013 via mobile

The rooms are large, spotlessly clean with large 4 poster beds and mozzie nets. Lovely spacious balcony with views through the palm trees to beautiful Weligama bay. The chef cooked up some delicious seafood. Sonia and her husband run this place so well and have made it both beautiful and hospitable. I highly recommend it. Also the beach is fantastic and well suited for families with small children.

The moment you get through their gates it's like another world. The attention to detail is fantastic and I wish I were still there.
This is not your sort of place if you want a lively beach resort although you can get to Mirissa by tuk for about 250-300 lkr. The small hotel fronts a deserted beach and if you walk about 2k along it to Weligama, you may see a few fishermen or the odd cow grazing at the back, but that's about it.
The name is misleading in that it's a truly Sri Lankan experience. Ameeri, the owner isn't a proper Aussie, (lives there in the close season) or I wouldn't have got away with being English and a cricket fan.
The Chef, Karu, is fantastic and will suggest dishes or cook what you ask for. Nothing is too much trouble and the quality of everything was outstanding. From the creamiest scrambled eggs to the Chinese style marinated bream? we appreciated it all. The curry was as good as we've had although I'm still not sure about having it for breakfast as well!
The rooms were great, large, quiet air con and mosquito nets, Lovely balconies and shaded by the coconut palms. No pool but with the sea 50m away, we didn't want one. Well done Ameeri (not sure of spelling) and hope to come back next year.

We originally intended to stay for one night but loved the hotel and surrounding area so much that we stayed for 4 nights and wished we could of stayed longer. The hotel is in a beautiful location on a quiet beach. The owner and his staff could not of been more friendly. They arranged several trips for us and even a special beach BBQ with a band for one of our friends who was celebrating his birthday. As previously mentioned the cook Karu continues to produce excellent and memorable meals using local fish and produce.

We stayed here for two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Its a relatively small, six roomed hotel right on the beach front. The bedrooms are large and modern with balconies overlooking the quiet beach. The staff are very friendly and Karu the cook, as the other reviewers have mentioned, is an absolute bonus. We had two different fish dinners that were wonderful. Its a relatively short walk into Weligama (approx 2km) along the beach and a 45 minute train journey for a day visit to Galle. If you are in the Mirissa/Weligama area and looking for a hotel then this is the one to chose.

A boutique hotel run by a really sweet srilankan and swiss couple, its bang on the beach. When we were driving to this hotel we crossed a really narrow lane and were quite scared as to what the hotel would be like but voila it was a paradise beyond the narrow lanes. The place was so beautiful that I could live there forever! The staff were so super friendly always smiling and made our stay more than comfortable. They also have a really cute friendly Labrador called Hungary! The owner whipped up some interesting cocktails and wr had a great beachfront dinner. Breakfast was good too freshly cooked on the spot. I would definitely go back to stay there again

We stayed here for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Barbara the manageress and her family are lovely hosts. The ever smiling Karu is a total credit to this gorgeous little oasis. He is a great cook and will make your curry just the way you want it. The hotel is placed at the quiet end of Weligama beach. A short tuk tuk ride to the town for provisions and a pleasant walk back along the beach to the hotel. The room was huge and the king size bed was so comfortable. The bathroom was also large. This is a new hotel only opened a few months. Breakfast was excellent. Highly recommended for a quiet break. Although there is no pool the sea is great for a dip. Would love to come back for a longer stay.

We originally booked 2 nights but ended up staying 4 (it would have been more but we had a plane to catch!). The rooms are huge, spotless and have a lovely view of the private beach. Well it's not really a "private beach" but as there is very little hotel development on this stretch of Weligama beach we had it to our selves during our entire stay. The family which run the hotel are very warm and happy to help and cook great breakfasts and dinners. If you're looking for a spicy curry and yet to have one yet, the chef will definitely cook it to your liking! It's also in a great location as you are only 0.5km to the main town of Weligama, which has everything you need.

We loved this place and were very sad to go.
