Tea trails is one of the best resort that i have been to. Its in a remote location in Sri Lanka in the mountains filled with tea farms. there are 4 houses, all built by the british a long ways back. In which ever one you stay in you will have the experience of a lifetime. I stayed in the Tientsin Bungalow and it was just brilliant, the staff was very friendly they would cook you anything you want at anytime of the day or in the night. They will cook a simple burger to the most complicated and delicious food you have ever tasted. they will also cook for you authentic Sri Lankan food which will get your taste buds tingling. There were 5 rooms and each room was as good as the other. I went there with my family so we had booked three rooms so we almost had the place to our selves. but there was another couple there and they said that they had a lot of fun. There also a lot of activities there as well. we went Hiking, Mountain Biking, we went to see the tea factory, we went to see the other houses there and White water rafting which FYI was the best of em' all. If you just want to relax you can just go swimming in their brilliant infinity pool and have tea in the flawless garden and just enjoy the astounding view. To top all of this is the price which is cheaper than a normal resort, and there are no additional charges as well besides from the massage. The only downside is leaches but never in the house only if you go outside. It is great value for money.

Beautiful old style colonial bungalow with 5/6 rooms brilliant staff fantastic surroundings . Fabulous food - eat when you like where you like. Take the train to Hatton to get there and then drive. See the old machinery working in the factory and by some straight out of the factory tea.

We just left Tea Trails yesterday and I'm already planning the next time we can go back. The entire experience is incredible - from the amazing bungalows (all unique yet equally beautiful) to the gourmet food to the stunning views - we wish we could've extended our stay! Thank you especially to the staff at Castlereagh for making our anniversary dinner so special.

If you don't mind moving, consider booking different bungalows for each night there as the experience is different and lovely in each location.

We stayed at the Summerville bungalow and had the master suite called Shuttleworth. There were only four rooms in the bungalow which was very cosy and peaceful. The room was just fantastic and so spacious. The chef would come ask what you wanted for your lunch and dinner each day and nothing was too much trouble. The food was fantastic and the staff were attentive and helpful. They provided us with a back pack with our lunch and a flask of tea when we decided to walk Adams Peak. They had thought of everything. They provided a tour of the tea factory nearby (Norwood) which was a great experience! The bungalow was set up on the hills and the views were just breath taking. We just wished we had stayed longer.

Room Tip: The master suite was just perfect!

We stayed in the Castelreagh Bungalow, one of four Tea Trails properties set around the Castlereagh reservoir. It was a wonderful experience. When you arrive you are presented not with the wine list but with the tea menu because this is the heart of Sri Lanka's tea growing area and a not to be missed visit to the tea factory with the resident tea planter Andrew will help you decide which if the various beverages on offer will best suit you. There are two charming walks of about one and a half hours each from Castelreagh going through village settlements and tea gardens which will help shake down the excellent food in time for the daily offering of cream teas. We also took a boat across the water to Summerville and did a longer (2.5 hours) walk from there. You can
eat at another bungalow if you like and the staff seem to be universally delightful. Each day the chef will discuss his menu plan with you and change it to suit if there is something that doesn't appeal. Drinks are freely variable and as plentiful as you like. And as it is all inclusive -even down to the laundry- there is no need to worry about a monstrous bill at the end.

We stayed at Norwood bungalow for 2 nights.

The journey from Galle to Hatton was long and at times bumpy, but worth every minute of it to stay at Norwood in its breath taking setting in the stunning Sri Lankan hill country.

Service is impeccable
Food both western and Sri Lankan is excellent. The best we found in Sri Lanka!
Afternoon tea on the veranda was a highlight
Incredibly relaxing atmosphere with little touches like a croquet lawn and billiard room add traditional character to the bungalow
The bedroom was well furnished in a traditional style and comfortable, the room was slightly let down by the erratic plumbing in the bathroom
Lovely large swimming pool

I will remember eating the delicious breakfast on the terrace with the wonderful views across the hills for a very long time.
Another highlight is to take a walk in the hills (bring walking trainers) around the tea plantations and watch the women hard at work plucking the tea. Everyone you meet is so friendly and welcoming to visitors.

Room Tip: Take a tour around the factory. Andrew Taylor makes the journey from plant to cup come alive and th...

We stayed 4 nights in Summerville bungalow and it was fantastic! The food, service and setting were incredible. If you are considering booking, do it - you won't regret it!! A little slice of paradise.

Room Tip: We saw Norwood, Castleriegh and Summerville and thought Summerville was the nicest.
