This hotel was by far the most special and my favourite of my stay. I can not even describe the feeling and peace i received while here. The staff are amazing and everything is done for you. It is like walking back in time 100 years when travel was special and travellers were really looked after. The place has stunning views of the tea terraces with amazing hikes within the property. I suggest a sunrise hike on Trail 1&2. The High Tea is better than you would find in London. The food is 5 star quality. The venue is small and you will have drinks in the lounge before dinner when you can meet the other guests and exchange stories of your travels next to an blazing fire. This is a real must! Also take the Tea Plantation tour. Have a massage in your room and get an herbal bath at the end of the day filled with cinnamon and rose petals.

Room Tip: All rooms are good - the best faces the garden and opens up to the terrace with it's own fire pl...

We stayed one night at the Summerville and one night at the Norwood. Both are beautiful properties but I preferred the Summerville. It is a smaller bungalow with only 4 rooms. It is more intimate and the view is breathtaking. You can have an easy walk through the tea plantations in front of the bungalow and just take in the scenery as you relax on the terrace with tea and amazing food. The staff is wonderful and make it all the more a lovely place to stay.

Note that the drive from the airport can take 4 hours or even more as the road is windy and very narrow.

We stayed in the Goddard room at the Summerville which has a beautiful garden. We also stayed at the Irvine at Norwood but the garden was not as private as the Goddard, so if I had known, would have opted out of the private garden at the Norwood since the whole property is a beautiful garden in itself.

The only reason I give it 4 out of 5 is that some of the amenities were a bit rundown. We had a lamp in the room with exposed wires which caused a pretty big electric shock. We would request the hotel to check the electrical equipment often.

a fabulous experience. We stayed a night each at Tientsin and Summerville. very different bungalows, both with amazing food, views and staff. Tientsin felt like stepping back in time- a beautiful grand old home, huge bathroom and verandah and a beautiful garden. Summerville is smaller- only 4 rooms, with lake views and also beautiful surrounding tea plantations- very attentive staff. A definate splurge but a unique, wonderful experience.

The location is amazing if you want to stay at the hotel and see sights as the tea factories, Adams Peak and enjoy the mountains. The other famous sites of candy etc are quite far off. Not because of the distance, but because a small distance is very slow to travel because of the state of the roads.
The hotel itself is very cosy and has been the only hotel (bungalow) in the world where I actually forgot to lock my door every day of my holiday. The service was quite good and accommodating. The only minus was our first manager who was quite intruding and thought too highly of himself. As the week progressed he was replaced by another manager who was a much better fit. The food was good and every request welcomed. Please bring some mosquito repellent. You will need it.
It is a great place to relax and you will never feel rushed.
Castleregh is the best place to be when it comes to service and bungalow

Room Tip: The private garden is not really worth it. The public garden is big enough for all their guests and...

Masterfully run hotel providing as close to a private living experience as possible. Hotel grounds are exceptionally serene sitting atop vast valleys and mountains of green. Dining experience was also flawless as chef provides each guest a personalized experience. Overall 10/10 experience. I hope to return someday.

Ok, it is extraordinarily expensive, but 'before you die' must experience. beautiful place, amazing food, staff is wonderful! we went there with 3 kids ages 1,4 and 6, and the long drive was still worth doing! Had NYE dinner there with kids sleeping in our room and the baby monitor on. Really worked... The pool is not he warmest, but the setting is breath taking... would love to go back to this place one day...

We arrived at night and so when we awoke it made the experience even more magical - stunning views awaited us at breakfast - sitting on the veranda of the Tientsin bungalow. Sadly we only spent two nights here - certainly wanted longer. The bungalow is set in glorious countryside with a lovely garden and pool. Food and service are first class - Mahesh and his team were very attentive without being intrusive. We met some lovely fellow guests and it felt like we were enjoying a private home in a bygone era. We visited the Norwood estate to see how tea is made which was fascinating. Experiencing Tea Trails has to be a must if you pass this way - we certainly want to return again ana again....
