1. Arrival - we arrived unannounced, however the team at tea trails had no problem with this and were quick to make us feel comfortable, refreshed and at home.
2. Rooms - we expected English colonial style, with elegant finishes, clean, and especially classic, and this is what we got. Amazing.
3. Bathrooms - clean 100%. every time we went back, had Fresh towels and no problems with water being cold or toilets running. Soaps were plentiful, and natural tea style shampoos available with a personal touch. His and hers basins, were perfect timing for us.
4. Delectable foods from original Sri Lankan curries to juicy steak or seafood. Fresher than fresh. As we were staying at Tientsin we were quite keen to lunch at one of the other bungalows, and this was no problem. They arranged menu and transport, whilst encouraging us to enjoy.
5. Things to do- tea tour with Andrew was funny and very interesting, would've liked to have tried my hand at picking some leaves, with the workers. Tennis was fun, and other activities on hand, plentiful so quite happy.
6. Wifi was a dream, very good connectivity and speed.
7. Logistics for the next part of the journey were no problem to and the manager genuinely got involved and gave us good advice.

All in all the the tea trails were run by an outstanding manager and dedicated team of professionals. Well recommended, thank you thank you.

Room Tip: Not necessary, everyone is epic

A truly unique experience in a special setting. I stayed at the Norwood bungalow for two nights and it was such a remarkable experience. In short, the views were breathtaking, the food was exquisite and the service impeccable. It is pricey but certainly value for money. The highlight of our stay was the visit to the Norwood Tea Factory which was fascinating. Andrew Taylor (the tea factory guide) is brilliant and superbly knowledgeable. I have a newfound respect and appreciation for tea. I would recommend this place to anyone (although I do love its exclusive feel!)

We stayed 2 nights at Tientsin bungalow, and had a terrific time. The place is straight out of the 1930s, oozing colonial authenticity in a way that's very hard to find in Sri Lanka. Sipping a G&T on the verandah as the sun set over the tea plantation, I felt like something out of a David Lean movie. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and made no issue out of our two raucous boys. They even set us up for candle-lit dinner on our own in the beautiful wood-paneled old dining room with a roaring fireplace for added atmosphere.
Yes it's expensive, and no they won't serve you Michelin-Star quality food, but overall it was a superb experience and worth every penny. I'll gladly recommend this experience to fellow travelers.

We spent 3 nights at Castlereigh, one of the 4 historic inns belonging to Ceylon Tea Trails. With just 6 rooms, treated like honored guests at a 1930s British weekend, we savored this very special experience. The service couldn't have been more responsive. We were served delicious meals on the terrace surrounded by flower beds and overlooking the lake and tea plantations. The drive here is challenging but quickly forgotten once you've arrived. A unique experience well worth the cost.

Room Tip: The Tate room was large, very comfortable, and faced the lake.

We stayed at Tientsin Tea Trails Bungalow for 3 out of our 11-day sojourn of Sri Lanka. The setup was just picturesque - clean and well furnished rooms with fireplaces all overlooking perhaps the greenest gardens we've seen in recent years; set atop the hills of vast tea plantation! And the best of all - a very customer oriented crew just there to make our stay the most pleasant.

Sanath (the officer in charge of the bungalow) and his team made us feel very much at home and did their utmost to attend to the minutest details of what would make us comfortable - offering us a wide range of meal choices and serving them fresh, ensuring the safety of our 3 children in and around the bungalow. You could feel the genuineness of their desire to make us relax and happy. Every single one of them. A great facility managed by a great team gave us one of the most memorable experience of our visit to Sri Lanka and we hope to repeat it someday in future.

We stayed 2 nights at Castlereigh during our break in Sri Lanka. This part of the country is truly unique with rolling tea plantations as far as the eye can see and temperate weather. Tea trails itself is probably the best way to experience the tea country although it is not cheap. The food and wine is fantastic and it is all included in the price including high tea. The menu is actually really well thought out. You even get your own butler! A definite must do is a walk through the plantations in the early evening before returning to a glass of wine. There are plenty of other activities to keep you occupied during the day but we chose to relax and unwind. I must say it is all the smaller touches and professionalism of the staff and chef that really made this experience what it was - truly exceptional!

After a long, long, drive we arrived to a warm welcome by Ajith. With road conditions as they are it would have been better to have broken the journey rather than drive from airport direct. The staff soon fixed everything though and we slipped into the vibe. How special! The tea (spoken by a tea lover) is sublime and we chose the variety grown and processed right next to the lodge. The menu, introduced and presented prior by the Chef ,is superb; impossible to refuse and our waistlines are inching even as I write. Quietly efficient staff seem to anticipate just everything. A very special experience.

Room Tip: Leave it to the staff.
