“LCBB strives for excellence”
Reviewed 31 March 2013

Our family, including a 7 yo boy stayed at LCBB for six nights. The island is beautiful, an exotic change from our home in Colorado. The staff of LCBB strive hard for excellence. From what we saw and heard around the island, they clearly had the best service. After just three days relaxing in hammocks, snorkeling off the beach, walking along the radiant beach under the full moon, we felt we had been on vacation for three weeks. And, we still had seven days to go on our vacation to the Corn Islands. Time really slowed down.

Little Corn Island seems relatively undiscovered, but that seems to be changing fast. While I admire the excellence of service provided by LCBB, I fear they are setting a high standard that will raise the bar for the whole island, and ultimately attract big luxury resorts (yuck!) and tons more tourists, which would ruin this lovely place. It's happened countless times to other places. I talked to locals who said the local Corn Islands government was trying to resist/slow development, but the Nica govt wants more development.

Back to this review... Our only regret was doing the Dining and Activities package. In the end, I estimate we lost about $150 because of the D&A package. The D&A package is supposed to reward those who give most/all their business to LCBB. We did just that, and felt we indulged ourselves, but gosh we would have had to buy an awful lot more of something to even break even. We found that two meals a day was plenty (in a warm tropical climate) so we didn't benefit from the 30% off on additional meals. We did get a liter of wine, several margaritas, a bottle of rum, yoga class, etc. from LCBB. We found we could just snorkel off the beach and see amazing stuff, so there was no need to take the $20/person snorkel boat tour, for which the D&A package would have saved us $5/person. We did take the kayak out one day, which was fun, although we quickly realized we could explore more easily just walking down the beach.

I asked before our arrival if we could decide on the D&A package after we arrived, or do it for just some of the days. They said no. I think this policy is because most people would forego the package once they understand better.

Anyway, D&A package aside, we loved this place and highly recommend it to others. Thanks to the staff for their polite and professional service!

It sounds like EdandAmy and their family had a wonderful time on the Corn Islands in general and Little Corn Island in particular. Time slips away on LCI as you relax because of the no cars, no golf carts, no motorcycle laid back nature of this beautiful little island. It is nice to see too that they recognized that we do our level best to “strive for excellence”! We are thankful that they noticed and will continue to focus on great guest service as well as tasty food, good drinks and comfortable, quality accommodation.

We are sorry though that they regret their decision in regards to our Dining and Activities deal. We had numerous questions from EdandAmy prior to their arrival about whether they should take the deal or not. We even went so far at one point to remind them that taking the D and A deal was not required to stay with us and that maybe the package was not appropriate for them.

In the end, they selected the D and A deal. Strangely though (as can be seen by their review and in subsequent emails with them in regard to their concerns expressed in the review) they consciously decided NOT to take advantage of many of the discounted activities and freebies included in the package.

Upon examination of their bill, we discovered that they were about $4 per person per day short of coming out ahead. Had they taken advantage of the included beer, massage discounts, snorkeling, etc. etc., the goal of coming out ahead would have been easily achieved.

We require that guests select the package before they arrive not because we think folks “ . . . would forego the package once they understand better”, but because the remote nature of the island makes us have to plan 7 to 10 days in advance to be certain we have enough food on hand for our guests.

We actually believe that for the right guests, the Dining and Activities deal STAND ON ITS OWN MERIT! You can see that guests agree from a review just a week prior to this review.

We have tried to allow only “some days” of the package but our staff has a very hard time keeping track of which day is which day and our guests had a hard time deciding which day was or was not a Dining and Activity day. So because of all the problems this caused for our guests, we now only offer the package for the complete stay.

We constantly review our “value” paradigm to make sure we are offering the best possible vacation for a fair price. In regard to that, we have just recently substantially increased the value of the D and A deal and kept the price the same. If you want to save money on your vacation you may want to check it out.

But, as is clearly stated on our website: “. . . . be aware, if you don't utilize the benefits and discounts afforded by the Dining and Activities Deal, than you will probably be better off going a la carte!”

A big “Thank You” to EdandAmy for helping us to continue to create great value for all of our current and future guests!

If you have the option of staying here while on Little Corn, do it!! The cabanas exceeded our expectations, clean with plenty of space and right on the beach. The food (and atmosphere) at the restaurant the Turned Turtle is wonderful. We were there for 5 days on the D&A package (worth it for us!) so tried most things....all delicious. Including the margaritas (and my husband says piña coladas)! The staff is wonderful. Dave made our boys feel very welcome, and they are angling to go back and visit him! We organized our diving, fishing and snorkelling through LCBB and weren't disappointed. Sara's yoga session in the Firefly studio were an inspiring way to start the day...and her massage's amazing! We would highly recommend. Our boys aged 8 and 9 absolutely loved it, and I think even relaxed themselves!

This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. We stayed in the master suite. It was amazing, AC was not necessary as this part of the island is very breezy. The bungalow was fantastic, it was clean and so close to the beach. The food was amazing, the fish tacos are fantastic and the pina colada is the best I have ever had. The service is what really stands out, as the staff is always friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone. I never write reviews but I feel this was needed.

It feels good for all of us here at LCBB when we hit the mark and our guests leave super happy! Thanks for letting us know about your experience. We are trying to figure out how to blend the fish tacos into our Pina Colada to make a great lunch (just kidding)! We hope we might see you again on Little Corn Island.

At first I was a little surprised with the amount of 5 star reviews for this place at tripadvisor (sounds to good to be true), but when we came there it actually was THAT good and even better.

LCBB has a great location — it's on "windy" part of the island, where the air is much fresher, but you can easily walk to the village (10 minutes), walk along the beach to the south part of the island (15 minutes) or go to north part where the riff is (20 minutes). The hotel beach is very nice, and every morning seaweeds were cleaned (that I never saw in other places). There are lots of trees on the territory: they give a nice shade and also create privacy, so if you're lying in hamac between palmas you actually feel like you're alone, though there may be other people around.

We stayed in Bunkhouse, which has a shared shower with another room, and I was really impressed with quality and cleaniness of this budget place. Every morning rooms and shower were cleaned, we had a nice large bed with mosquito net, all the windows have a strong net from inside so you feel totally safe at night and can leave windows open (which we did). Our house also had a nice porch, where we sat in the evening.

Turned Turtle Restaurant offers amazing food. Breakfast variety is incredible and all options are extremely delicious. Evening meal was very impressive, since every dinner consists of starter, soup or salad, main dish and dessert, so when people say that prices are high compared to other places on the island just calculate how much you would pay if you took 4 meals, not 1, and then the prices won't seem high at all.

All in all I should say that so far this is the best place I stayed. Normally I consider hotels like places to sleep and leave staff at, but we didn't want to leave LCBB because the atmosphere there was so warm and family-like. I hope we'll come back someday.

My husband, myself and our 20 and 22 yr old sons recently has an amazing time on Little Corn Island. Our room at LCBB was so charming and oh so comfortable, falling asleep to the breezes and surf. The pictures don't do this small resort justice, a perfect balance of private amenity space, amazing beach, hammocks, sun chairs; something for everyone. Can't say enough, our food was amazing (boys are still talking about it), their pina coladas and mudslides-delicious, great swim beach and awesome snorkelling just 15 minutes away (saw 3 sharks). The owners were kind and attentive, and the staff wonderful and gracious. My boys did love the WiFi from the hammock and steps from the beach. I can't imagine too many places left on earth quite like Little Corn and LCBB. They do have good information on their website I suggest reading if you are interested in staying at LCBB.

Its a rough ride on the boat to the island, and you have to walk for 15 minutes across the island to reach the hotel, but its worth it. Its in a beautiful setting among palm trees, right by the beach, and the only sound is the roar of the waves Unfortunately, in February the sea is rough for swimming and snorkeling on this side of the island

The cabanas are very simple, with plenty of windows for fresh air and a constant breeze when we were there. The problems with electric power cuts and water shortages mean that you have to be prepared to accept that you are not staying in a developed island.

The restaurant serves excellent meals, but we found the quantities large and we often shared a meal, but this was not a problem. The menus are American based and we found some meals to comprise a strange mixture of foods and flavours. The staff are brilliant, always quick to serve, very happy and friendly. They keep the rooms, restaurant and grounds immaculate.

The restaurant was open to the public and we found that a number of backpackers who were staying in the area came during the daytime. In itself, this was not an issue, but we found they spent long periods using the facilities, to the detriment of residents. This was encouraged by having access to the internet. Although guests are told not to give out the password to visitors, the staff did and
the management seemd to turn a blind eye.

Thanks for the nice review! Our internet bandwidth has been limited by the provider in the past. Now, our current satellite provider is much more generous although still expensive at $400/mth. Due to this change and the fact that there is free internet at many of our competitors we recently relaxed our restrictions so that all of our guests, whether buying a coke or staying at our hotel can use the internet. Hotel guests have an advantage in that they can use the wi-fi at their cabin. We hope to see you back on LCI someday soon!

WE just got back from our trip to LCBB. All I can say is AMAZING! Scott & Christine went above and beyond making our stay perfect. Sara was great on massages for all of us. Stacy & the staff were our favorite! We actually cried leaving them all, even Lola bird! Getting to Little Corn is not easy or for everyone. The panga ride was a little scary with the high winds. We traveled with a year old and 20 month old and felt safe on the island at all times. The food was so good, the rooms were spotless and very comfortable, everyone was accomodating and helpful, and the property was immaculate at all times. Thanks for an amazing trip and adventure. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Any here will be fine.
