“Exceeded our expectations”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

We spent a week at Les Charmes de Carlucet in June 2014, and thoroughly enjoyed it. We rented the independent "cottage", which is really a very comfortable house with three en suite bedrooms. It is very well fitted and furnished. The large, modern kitchen was well equipped to cook local produce purchased at village markets. The property is well positioned for touring the Dordogne region, and is close to all the popular spots, whilst being situated in quiet countryside near a small village. The small town of Salignac is a few minutes drive away, and has a decent supermarket, bakery and butcher. The owner of Les Charmes is a lovely man, who speaks perfect French and English. He was extremely helpful in making himself available when needed to help with advice on restaurants etc, and made bookings for us on request. Each morning he delivered a baguette and croissants to our doorstep, which we thought was a lovely personal touch. We had a great holiday, and will return.

This is the second time I've stayed here. An outstanding place to stay, the accomodation is welcoming, comfortable and clean. The surrrounding views have a peaceful rural settting and church, with the amenities just right to suit a time to relax with easy access to see the regions villages, restaurants(food) and culture. I had space enough to settle in by the pool, read a book access my computer etc… and go out to enjoy the markets, sports and historic sites = a holiday! Eric the host, provided a breakfast to set me going for the day and gave me extended knowledge of the area (chateaux & vinyards), 'Filou' the friendly dog was there to entertain as an added companion! Les Charmes is a place I manage to feel like as a guest and a friend.

Room Tip: managed to view the self contained gites - easy to make it 'a home away from home' for famil...

We just came back from a wonderful vacation in Les Charmes de Carlucet. The host in this place is a wonderful person blessed with sense of humor and a lot of good will to make you feel at home . During a tasty breakfast he will take care to make your reservations needed by you to have a perfect day. The room is clean and wide and includes all is needed to enjoy your staying . The landscape is amazing and so is the place. Very very recomended!!

We've just returned from our fourth stay in the larger of the holiday cottages, Beaux Rêves. The children (boys 8 and 11) can't wait to come back here for the pool, canoeing, forest adventures, caves, castles, French food and their enthusiastic canine friend Filou. We love coming off-season as it's so quiet - no crowds, queues or stresses. Eric is an attentive host who looks after us very well . We appreciate the morning baguette and croissant delivery. There are plenty of indoor as well as outdoor activities in the area so rainy days are not necessarily a wash-out. This year, we flew a new route from Stansted to Brive which was very convenient. You will definitely need a car which we picked up from the new Brive airport to avoid the longer drive from Bergerac.

Room Tip: Beaux Reves gite is large and well-equipped with 3 bedrooms and its own private pool and patio.

My wife and I recently stayed at Les Charmes de Carlucet, and found that it is indeed every bit as wonderful as all of these other positive reviews indicate! In fact, it exceeded all our expectations. The location in the country was beautiful, charming and peaceful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. And most of all, Eric was very welcoming - a perfect host. He provided great suggestions and was more than willing to help in any way he could. We definitely recommend staying here for your holiday in the Dordogne region of France. Be sure to find time for a picnic on the property overlooking the village - a perfect, romantic experience.

We stayed as a one big family ( 16 ) with kids from the age of 2 till 24 , they all had enjoyed an active ( ballo, kayaking , biking , playing soccer at the Chateau and enjoying the heated pool) and a relaxing ( mostly eating ) vacation. Both Eric and Lisa ( the hosts ) went out of their way to assist us with whatever they thought will be needed. each and every recomandation was superb and we had the feeling we are more than welcom . The location was perfect , we could enjoy a morning walk, visit the local bolongurie and yet to be on time to all the Mast do places.
We will cherish the moments . Thank you

Room Tip: We used all 3 buildings, and we can recommend them all.
